Set#: 70812
Name: Creative Ambush

Year: 2014
Pieces: 473
Minifigs: 4
Price: US $39.99 / CAN $49.99 / UK £34.99

The Box:

The Pieces:

Dump out the content of the box and you see four numbered bags of parts, two instruction booklets and a sticker sheet.

and bag four.

Image
These are a few of the less common pieces that stood out to me. I especially like the 2 x 2 round tile with a hole in the middle.

The Minifigures:

Image
There are four minifigs:
Sudds Backwash, Rootbeer-Belle, Kabob-Bob and Executive Ellen. All of them are exclusive to this set.

The Build:

Bag one starts with the Micro Manager.

Finished.

Image
Starting on bag two is the flying shish kabob stand.

Image

Image
I like how the grilling unit is attached just behind the tank to make it a steam powered machine.

Image
Bag three begins the plane.

Image
Dynamite bombs to drop on the micro manager.

Bag three finished.

Image
Bag four will finish the plane.
I tried to build the wings at the same time and got one cannon flipped around.

And from the back.

The names on the tab are people who worked on the LEGO movie, Chris Miller and Phil Lord (screenplay), Chris McKay (animation co-director / supervisor) and Grant Freckelton (production design).

Extra pieces.

Conclusion:

DESIGN 10/10 - The designs of the vehicles make it look like you could actually use the parts build a saloon and food stand, and they still manage to look fantastic.

BUILD 9/10 - Fairly easy to put together, though the wings did fall apart a little when I was attaching them to the body of the plane.

MINIFIGURES 10/10 - All the minifigs are exclusive to this set, plus I believe this is the first set to have a businesswoman minifig

PLAYABILITY 10/10 - With four figures, two vehicles, a robot and play features like the firing cannons and flick-fire missiles, this set has potential for many hours of play.

PARTS 9/10 - I think this set set has a very good selection of parts, I wouldn't mind having a second copy of it just for parts.

PRICE 10/10 - I feel like this set was priced well. If you count extra pieces it comes out to 8.16 cents(USD) per part.

OVERALL 9.7/10

Thanks for reading and don't forget to answer the poll.

The link on the main page takes me to the polybag reviews…

I like this set. The figures are great. Though I could have done without the micro-manager. And printed pieces rather than stickers would have made this a home-run.

Nice sets. One of the best set in Movie series. The selection of the minifigures is the main reason I will buy this set. This set could impress me more if no stickers were used.

There are many other sets more attractive than this one at the market, I am holding off until it is on sale (30% to 50% off).

Thanks for the review.

8 cents a piece plus 4 minifigs? This is a good set!
