Indigo.ca - 20% any one item promo

Post by styledshadow » Mon Aug 11, 2014 10:36 am

Indigo.ca (aka Chapters.ca) is offering a 20% coupon for any regularly priced item, including LEGO.

They are excluding both Friends and Mindstorm, which is a shame, but this is still a valuable promotion as it can apply to sets that TRU and others commonly excludes in their promos... the bigger ones.

This coupon can be applied against an AT-AT, a Star Destroyer, the Millenium Falcon, the GotG Milano ship, the Chima Fire Temple... etc. (Sadly, they don't list the Ewok Village or Death Star, but c'est la vie.)

They do limit the promotion to 1 item per transaction, which seems funny to me... I can simply submit multiple transactions.

Oh, and shipping is free over $25. For some of the bigger sets that rarely ever go on sale in Canada, this is about as it good as it gets.

It would appear that the majority of the new SW sets do not qualify for free shipping, at least not to QC. Don't know if that's a weight/size/destination restriction, too bad..

You mean the new ones? Yeah it appears they just want to charge people shipping for those, because sets with similar size boxes are free shipping so it doesn't really make sense. Also it seems you can add more than 1 item per transaction with the discount, i added multiple sets and it discounted all of them.

ship to store doesn't seem to be available on the cargo plane (42025). If anyone figures out a way to order it without paying shipping, please let me know!

It appears the newer sets do not qualify for free over $25 shipping offer. If you click to get more details on the set and on the right side you scroll down it will let you know if it qualifies for free shipping. I ordered mine (2014 Freight Train) and noticed the shipping cost still was applied. Not knowing my item does not qualify for free shipping, I called customer service and they applied a credit to my Indigo account for the shipping cost.

I got the Branderburg Gate and a couple of Simpsons minifigs. Not bad as Architecture sets are difficult to find on Sale generally. I still find Branderburg Gate to be over priced but I like the display value of the previous items in the line so ended up getting it.

Agree, the only thing worth getting really. 20% is the norm for most sale, so no biggie, anything greater than 20% is what most of us would like.

20% off is a standard sale, but still good on items that are usually excluded. I purchased an ecto-1 for 20% off, which I hadn't seen on sale before. Thanks for posting the deal.

Yes but with the Lego 5% VIP points and their polybag monthly promotion. I say even getting it at the Lego store is still a bit better. If this was 30+% off, now that is a no brainner.

I guess it depends on the value you put on the monthly promotion. I think this month's is a Chima polybag if the purchase is $75 or more, and if its $100 or more you also get the mini cooper. If I purchased sets worth exactly $100 to maximize these bonuses I'd earn $5 in VIP points, and the bonuses need to be worth at least $15 to me. I don't collect Chima so wouldn't even want that polybag, but lets give it a value of $8. The mini is nice, and has a value of $7. In my book the bonuses work out to $15 so I'd say the deals are equivalent.

Buying it online you need to spend at least $75 to get free shipping, if I'm looking to spend less I'd need to pay extra. I've bought at the local Lego store, never got any of the online promos so not a fan of that option. Getting sets I actually want it'd be a challenge to get exactly $100 (if I added 2 other sets at $25 each it'd be $110). So for me I find 20% off a better deal than buying from the Lego store. I can also earn a few more percent off if I remember to go through ebates first.

I also think the $13.44 after tax savings (12%) on the Ecto-1 at Chapters.ca is better than the ~$3 in VIP points and having to spend $40 to get the free $7 Mini Cooper polybag.

Through Ebates you should be able to get 3.25% back at Chapters.ca (total savings work out to $15.00). You can get 2.00% ($1.20) through Great Canadian Rebates from the online Lego store.

I am not saying this is a bad promo at all on sets like ecto-1. And this set is over $40, so the chima polybag is automatic. And with the weak polybag promo like the one from this month kind of suck. I was actually refering to the Martian Manhunter one a month or two ago, which by itself is $10-15+.
