Marvel Superheroes 2015 Toy Fair Report

Post by vynsane » Sun Feb 15, 2015 8:37 pm

Avengers: Age of Ultron

There were five sets Age of Ultron on display, though there is one more that we know of that wasn’t, known as “Burglary at the Hydra Fortress”. Presumably it’s a retailer exclusive.

The $12.99 set looks like quite a good deal more substantial than the Captain America set from the first movies’ offerings, while the $19.99 set, as basically all $19.99 sets, packs a lot of value.

Available starting in March 2015 (or, y'know, maybe now).

76029 Iron Man vs. Ultron
Price: $12.99
Pieces: 92
Minifigures: 4

76030 Duel with Hydra
Price: $19.99
Pieces:220
Minifigures:3

76031 Hulkbuster Rescue Mission
Price: $29.99
Pieces: 248
Minifigures: 3 + 1 Hulk Bigfig

The Hulkbuster Rescue Mission set takes quite a hit in the apparent value department because of the Hulk Bigfig although the Hulkbuster Iron Man armor looks great - a fair site better in person than I initially thought.

76032 The Avengers Quinjet Chase
Price: $79.99
Pieces: 722
Minifigures: 5

The Quinjet is quite more colorful and interesting looking than the admittedly excellent, though drab looking, original version. Featuring five minifigures, including Vision and Ultimate Ultron, this is going to be incredibly popular.

76038 Attack on Avengers Tower
Price: $59.99
Pieces: 511
Minifigures: 5

Avengers Tower looks to include quite a few action features, but the main event is, again, the minfigures. With two “Iron Legion” figures and “Ultron Mk 1” as well as Iron Man Mk 43 and Thor, it will also be quite popular.

Ultimate Spider-man

Available starting in August 2015.

76036 Carnage's Shield Sky Attack
Price: $12.99
Pieces: 97
Minifigures: 3

The great thing about the new Spider-man sets is the inclusion of variant Spider-man designs. This set will undoubtedly be as wildly poplar as Miles Morales, Ultimate Spider-man is himself.

76037 Rhino and Sandman Supervillain Team-up
Price: $39.99
Pieces: 386
Minifigures: 4

Just like the previous set, this one features another variation on the Spider-man design - this time, the Iron Spider armor. An interesting detail, however, is the fact that Spider-man features red boots for the first time since the wider Marvel license began.

10687 Juniors Spider-man Hideout
Price: $29.99
Pieces: 137
Minifigures: 3

I foresee a lot of adult collectors reluctantly buying this Juniors set for the Green Goblin figure alone.

Ant-Man

Available starting June 2015.

76093 Ant-Man Final Battle
Price: $19.99
Pieces: 183
Minifigures: 3

The Ant-Man set rounds out the offerings on display for the Marvel license. The three minfigures are named, oddly enough, “Yellow Jacket”, “Hank Pym” and “Ant-Man”. I particularly love the touch of adding the scaled-up LEGO bricks to simulate the shrunken stature of the minifigures. Great touch!

I've already bought the Age of Ultron sets. Found them at Meijer in Mid-Michigan. They are absolutely fantastic. The Hulkbuster is by far the coolest of all 6 sets. Hawkeye set is the set you can pass on of the 6 if need be, but still cool vehicles.

The Age of Ultron sets were up on Amazon for about two days before LEGO had them removed. 76030 Duel with Hydra is very cool and a great bargain. The Ant man set is so much fun. And a Hulk set for $30 I can finally get the figure.

I like the Antman set and the Green Goblin. I'll probably pass on the others. Will we ever get a Thor with a helmet? I know the movie version doesn't really have the helmet but still I want one. I'm not crazy about Spiderman with "boots". Great pics! I'll be saving most of my money for Scooby-Doo

So awesome, Lego! I will be buying all of these sets.

That Carnage set is a total win in so many ways. First, they introduce the first Carnage minifig. On top of that they include a SHIELD army builder and then to top it off they don't just throw in default Spidey, it's Miles!! I will have a hard time not buying a crapload of these.

Two army builders this year in the SHIELD agent and the Iron Legion. Way to go, TLG!

Comic-accurate Green Goblin looks awesome, the Juniors sets have really sold well in my area and I have yet to get any for myself. Definitely won't miss this one.

It's really good to see that TLG is learning to take advantage of the vast universes their Marvel and DC licenses give them. Last year Marvel had Beetle, Nova, Modok and Taskmaster with Carnage and Sandman this year (won't count "Rhino"). This year DC has Cyborg, Supergirl, Hawkman, Beast Boy and Starfire.

We might still be getting a bunch of Spideys and Batmen, but at least now it's variants like Miles and Iron Spidey or Scuba Batman and Spacesuit Batman

I could care less about Avengers 2 but the Ultron figures, especially the heads, are some of my favorite-looking ones of all time already. Just boss. The Antman figs too. LEGO is taking it to a higher level with some of these.
