NEW: Polybag Set 40025 NYC Taxi Cab

Post by itztitoyo » Thu May 03, 2012 8:10 am

Hello everyone. Here's a look at the Rockefeller Center Legostore exclusive polybag, NYC Taxi Cab. Just like the Statue of Liberty polybag, this might only be available at this store. The set will be released very soon to the public. Enjoy!

**I believe, for the most part, we're all adults here so I would kindly appreciate if folks would refrain from inundating the store with phone calls regarding this set.**

HA! Cute... but where's the checker print (even though NYC cabs haven't had those in ages...)?

OK, it IS a cute cab, but from a functional perspective, it sort of fails to meet the requirements of a taxi.

Can a minifigure fit inside? It's hard to tell.

HA, yeah, but it beats the pants off most other polybag cars that usually look like they should be driven by Shriners...

It would have been so cool if they kept it retro with the checkers or add something to make it distinct.

HaHaHa, I was thinking the same. If minifigs could die from starvation, this taxi driver wouldn't last. Unless the LEGO government has a subsidy for taxis with no passengers.

It looks like it has some nice parts. I wouldn't mind picking up a few of these myself if they have a wider distribution. Yellow doors, windshields, that piece used for the front bumper, all great parts that everyone can use.

kind of disappointed. It doesn't scream NYC cab to me. It's just alittle bit better than the SOL.

don't call the lego store? are you kidding me, who cares. that is their JOB to answer the phone and let me know when this polybag is in.

the parking at rockefella' is miserable, so i gotta go with a friend, and have her sit in the driver's seat while i run inside.

i am for sure going to call, and make sure the taxi is in stock, before i trek over there.

for the most part, the rest of the city has FANTASTIC parking, if you are willing to walk 3 blocks or so. but rockefella' plaza, home of the trillionaire banker, has to have 'special parking and you gotta pay till 11pm or midnight! wtf???

so i have no choice, but to call ahead, and plan a trek over.

im going to buy at least 5, cause i love the yellow pieces!

Okay simmer down echobanzai - the initial post requested that we don't inundate the store with calls - not to refrain completely from calling them. That said, it isn't their job to let you know when the polybag is in, it's their job to answer questions over the phone, in the store, assist customers, clean up after the messy people at the PaB wall, restock the shelves, ring up sales, and clean up the store at closing time, so lets have a little more respect for our fellow human beings who make it an almost universal pleasure to shop at LEGO Brand Retail Stores.

My family drove in to the city one weekday to take my daughter to the American Girl store, which is diagonally across the street from the Rockefeller Center Promenade where the LEGO Store is, and we found reasonable parking around Lex and 49th, I think. It's not that bad a walk.

Anyway, I will be popping in to that store from time to time to see if they have it (among other things), and will report my findings here, so no need to call too often.

The poly bag set is now available, it's a very basic small build something TLC could have given away for the monthly mini builds but instead wants you to pay. The interiors are very small so a mini figure will not fit, the iconic NYC cab print / at very least checker pattern is all missing. The idea is excellent and could easily become yet another new York souvenir but this set leaves so much more desired in a new York moment.

I think SOL meant Statue of Liberty. ;-)

Yes plenty to go around. They have some by the register and some on the lower floor next to the SSD display.

I'd love to have a chance to get the cab and the statue of liberty. Anybody out there available to pick up some?
