The hottest thing since sliced bread, the Collectible Minfigure juggernaut continues to roll along. Each series continues to amaze, will Series 7? Well, its been out for a while now, so if you haven't discovered these yet, you may have a hard time getting them. In my neck of the woods, they are long gone from Walmart (probably due to the slightly lower price) but Toys R Us have reams of them. Even ordering from Shop@Home is no guarantee of getting a complete set, but at least you have a better chance now that you can order 32 at time (up from the pitiful 5 you could order when series 1 was around). Lets look
at them now.
This wave came packaged in red. The choking hazard warning is once again prominent. There is no bar code to help you identify whats in the bag, but with the exception of the swimmer, all of the other figures have at least one really easily identified component so getting your hands on the ones you want is just a matter of patient "fondling".

Inside, you get the usual: One random minifigure (this one is the Aztec), a display base, and the insert.

The insert front shows you all the different figures that are available.

The back shows you some of the new interesting accessories or body parts that are available for mixing and matching. My son likes to mix and match, I'm more of a collector so this side does nothing for me. Lets check out the offering for this wave.

Aztec Warrior. This guy comes with a bird helmet, a shield and a spear. Series 7 contines the trend of refusing to paint the back of the legs. This is a rather large problem in this series as a large number of the figures end up looking like they are wearing thongs when viewed from the back. The bird helmet is very cool, and the face and torso are nice too.

Viking Woman. She comes with swrod, shield and helmet/hair (the hair is attached to the helmet). The horns are separate elements. My daughter is a huge fan of the mini figures, so more girl characters are always welcome, but even though I am not a historian, I know enough about the Vikings to know that Viking woman were not warriors. So, unless this is a Valkyrie, the figure is completely inaccurate. Regardless, the torso and skirt elements are quite nice.

Computer Programmer. This is one of my favorites. As a programmer myself, I have a copy of this guy on my desk at work (I'm actually a programming teacher, but close enough). My only complaints are with the outfit, no programmer wears a bow tie with a sweater. The programmer comes with a laptop and a coffee cup with the old DOS prompt on it. (Strange how even after all these years I still identify that as the DOS prompt instead of an emoticon.)

Bride. I know Tarantino fans were hoping for a Kill Bill bride, but this is LEGO after all. The bride comes with a bouquet (one extra flower), tiara and veil. The veil is a real pain to get on, as you have to stick in on under the tiara. All we need now is a groom (series 8 maybe??)

Jungle Boy. Legal department strikes again. This is SO obviously Tarzan. This one comes with dagger and monkey. He looks nice, but just like the Aztec, no painting on the back of the legs, so its thong city all over again.

IMG_7831 by hatcherman, on Flickr
Tennis Ace. Comes with racket. Nothing too exciting here, but at least now your female tennis player from an earlier wave can have someone to play with (or against).

IMG_7832 by hatcherman, on Flickr
Swimming Champion. This one is the hardest one to identify by the feal method as the only really identifying things you can look for are the medal (very small) and the swim hat. In this composite shot, you can see that the swimmer comes with a double sided face, one with goggles, and one without. Another thong fail.

IMG_7834_a by hatcherman, on Flickr
Daredevil. As seen in this composite, the daredevil comes with a double sided head, hair and a helmet as well as a cape.

IMG_7835_a by hatcherman, on Flickr
Rocker Girl. Comes with guitar. The hair is quite impressive. This is a nice figure, except for the thong issue.

IMG_7837 by hatcherman, on Flickr
Bagpiper. Shown holding and not holding the bagpipes. My wife used to play bagpipes, and was in a parade band for a while, so I can tell you that the outfit is very realistic. The bagpiper comes with a kilt that wraps around the legs. (And no, this piper is NOT going commando underneath). I knew however, that LEGO would have a tough time getting the bagpipes right, as the bag is supposed to go under your arm so you can squeeze it while playing. That aside, the bagpipes look accurate, and the figure is pretty nice.

Bunny Suit Guy. Pretty much every series has had a person in a costume figure. He comes with a carrot. The tail is just painted on, but this is cute figure that the kids will no doubt love.

IMG_7840_a by hatcherman, on Flickr
Hippie. Comes with a bouquet of flowers. I don't know why, but this guy reminds me of Ned Flanders (who I am fairly certain was NEVER a hippie). Tie dyed t-shirt and purple pants, gotta love this one.

IMG_7842 by hatcherman, on Flickr
Grandma Visitor. Seriously, Grandma visitor? That's what you came up with? Sigh. Anyway, Little Red Riding - erm, Grandma Visitor comes with red hood and cape, and a basket. She has short legs. Nice simple figure.

IMG_7843 by hatcherman, on Flickr
Ocean King. This is one of my favourites from this wave. Gold trident, wickedly cool beard, hair with crown, and mermaid tail. Combine with the abs on the torso, and this guy may be old, but you don't want to mess with him.

IMG_7844 by hatcherman, on Flickr
Evil Knight. I guess you can tell evil people by the eyes. The evil knight is a very nice figure. Comes with sword, wild boar shield, helmet and a decorated breast plate. For those of you who just don't have enough knights, this guy will make a welcome addition.

IMG_7845 by hatcherman, on Flickr
Galaxy Patrol. In this shot, the Galaxy patrol person is shown with body armor removed, and face without the visor. The torso and legs are very intricately decorated, and the weapon is seriously bad-ass. LEGO apparently got it right this time as this guy is the most sought after and there are reportedly five per box.

IMG_7846 by hatcherman, on Flickr
And with the body armour on and visor down. Do not mess with this guy. Excellent figure all around.

IMG_7847 by hatcherman, on Flickr
And the entire group.

The collectible series have all so far been excellent. Of course its a matter of personal preference as to what figures you want and which ones you consider filler. All of them have accessories or components that you could use in your own creations and if you haven't gotten them yet, don't dilly dally, Series 8 is coming in September.
