Tentative New Hobbit sets on brickapedia

Postby lego the hutt » Thu Jul 26, 2012 12:52 am

So I was browsing through brickapedia and there are a bunch of sets listed that will be coming out december 1st. Take this info with a grain of salt but I thought it was interesting, I hadn't seen this before:

79000 Mystery of the Ring €12.99 : Bilbo and Golum minifig
79001 Fleeing from the Mirkwood Spiders €29.99 : Bilbo fig
79002 Attack of the Wargs €59.99 : Gandalf the grey and warg minifig
79003 An Unexpected Gathering : €79.99 /$59.99 : this is the one we saw from comic con
79004 Escape in the Barrels €69.99 : Bilbo fig
79010 The Orc King €99.99 : Bilbo, gandalf the grey and orc king minifig

Given such a small amount of information leaves many questions. Hopefully we get different bilbo figs. Getting him in 5 out of 6 sets exactly the same would be slightly disappointing. I assume we will get the same gandalf the grey that we already have...in 3 out of the six new sets...which leads to the same point. Variety would be nice here.

The set we saw from comic con, the gathering, while very detailed seemed like a small to mid sized set. There is only one set listed with a higher price point. Most of these sets seem like they will be small and affordable. Doesn't seem to be an army builder set since the cheap one has bilbo and gollum but maybe it will be the warg set at around a 30 dollar price point like urak hai army (and it comes with a named fig like urah kai army too  )

I fully expect to get some of the other dwarves in the escape in the barrels set. I'm sure we just don't have all of the minifig info here on most of the sets. Wargs will be nice.

I'm really excited about the wargs, can't wait to see them.
Interesting set numbers, I wonder if this means all 2013 sets (and beyond) will have 5 digit numbers.

Me too! I really hope the license for the lotr theme gets renewed for many years to come.

They have recently been making star wars sets based on the star wars the old republic mmo. I could see sets based on the lord of the rings online mmo. ( I played both for a time and I preferred LotR)

And bag end looks so detailed in the pics from comic con it makes me hopeful for some very quality sets in the future.

Still seems to be no low priced battle pack/army builder set. I cant wait for some Battle of Five Armies sets to be released.

If I had to guess that would be the 3rd hobbit movie, after Smaug is dead. Probably 2 years away minimum before we might see 5 armies battle packs but it is a nice thought.

I'm completely excited for An Unexpected Gathering. I am anticipating pictures of the other sets. I hope they don't forget any of the dwarves, but they probably plan to spread them over 3 years. (I'm hoping the same/more so with Saruman and Sauron and a ton of other characters.)

    Too much green :)

Seriously, I love LOTR and The Hobbit, but the hobbit hole in this set seems kinda ugly...

It does have a lot of green...but the shire is supposed to look like that. Very fertile and thriving, almost over grown...the houses blend with nature.

I think the set is the most detailed and fantastic looking set in recent memory. To me it almost looks like a moc more than a set...I can't wait to see what the other sets are like. I can only hope they have similar detail.

I'll buy this, but this isn't even in the ballpark of a decent MOC. It actually looks kind of amateurish to me, odd and sharp angles. Eh. But still I will buy it.

Yeah man, I'm with you.. they couldn't get a better green? That hue is so wrong!
