[US] October 2012 LEGO Store Calendar

Double VIP points, as expected. No mention of free shipping, but I don't recall if they typically advertise that ahead of time.

10229 Winter Village Cottage and 10227 B-Wing Starfighter will be available (the Cottage is explicitly stated as October 1, and I would assume the B-Wing would be the same).

No freebie (other than the lame magnet set on Halloween). Last year they had the Big Apple set for orders over $75.

No mention of a limited edition holiday set either. Last year they had Set #1 of 2 for the 2nd half of the month.

Monthly Mini Model Build is a black cat (I thought it was a black wolf, until I read the back).

Monthly PAB Model is "The Monster" aka Frankenstein. Not great, but it is at least recognizable.

Some sort of Monster Fighter moonstone hunt event in-stores, to earn yourself some glow-in-the-dark stickers. My kids are looking forward to this.

Monster Fighter club meeting is the last one of the year (no club meetings in November or December).

The 2012 LEGO Design Challenge didn't show up well in my scan (sorry bout that), so here it is:

I'm surprised they're not doing another "Holiday set" promo like they did last year. It seemed to be pretty popular.

I have the November calendar, and yes, the holiday promo set will be available for the Black Friday weekend with purchase of $99 or more. No picture of the set. They also mention surprise savings and deals for Black Friday.
You can also get a free pick-a-brick box for every $75 purchase between Nov 1 and Dec 24.
Mini model build is a pilgrim.
Pickable model is a chef.
New catalog should be appearing around Nov 12-14.

What is the free magnet thing for Halloween? Can't find any info on this online.

I have to check with LEGO Customer Service on my order last night. The "My Bag" drop-down pane showed the correct 2xVIP point amount, but at check out all the VIP point tallies were 1x. Hopefully it's jut a programming glitch and they will honor the points. The order status was "customer service" for a bit but it was just because I had one "Out of stock. Expected to ship..." item in there.

I squeaked in my order last night as well. Got one copy of the winter village set and 32 of the series 8 minifigs. It showed the 2x points I think. The amount of points should be 2x the dollars of each set, right? (Plus or minus a point for rounding.) My tracking number is for somebody else's package from July though. I'll bet the hurricane is slowing things down.

The sad thing is, I didn't have enough time to build my haunted house and vampire castle before Halloween! Maybe I should keep them sealed until next fall. I better get cracking on the new winter cottage so that doesn't become a trend.

I got a response from LEGO CS, the 1xVIP tally was incorrect due to a programming/time zone discrepancy (they're running on Central European Time over in Billund). The rep assured me I will get the 2xVIP points once the order is processed.
