Don't know if I'd really call this a "deal," but VIP members can get the winter cottage now, earlier than other people who aren't VIP. You don't get the 2x points that you would if you waited until Oct, but if you HAVE to have it NOW, you can!

I think they want everybody to be VIP members just like they did for the mini modular sets. I think the fastest way to do that is to give VIP members more discount.

If you can't get to a LEGO store in October it would be a better deal to buy it now with free shipping than to wait for double VIP points.
EDIT: Oops, free shipping ended on the 21st, I thought that free shipping was through the end of the month.

Did you get one of those emails earlier in the year giving you free shipping until sep 30? Because free shipping is def over for me...would prob place 3-4x more orders this month if I still had free shipping.

Not sure why I got free shipping. Last email that had the offer was sent 16th; ended 21st. I did get the early VIP Winter Village Cottage invite.

My threshold was a little higher, but buying anything during this "test" should help Lego realize that free shipping is an incentive to buy straight from the source. I just bought the Winter Cottage with my VIP points and got the Monster Fighters poly with free shipping. If I had waited until October first to order, the points I earned would have negated the shipping.

All in all, I hope I've helped somewhat in the "Free Shipping" from Lego department. Just had a lot of little things kicking around in my cart, then came the cottage...

I say wait! I saw it at my local Lego store and was really not impressed. It is good if you want to add to the other winter sets.

I want this set and I'm still eligible for free shipping, but I already picked up the free zombie car, so I'm going to hold off until after 10/1 and see what freebies they might have come available during October. If nothing pops up and free shipping isn't available, I'll wait until November.
