TRU Bricktober news?

Post by brickmont13 » Wed Sep 18, 2013 3:23 pm

Hello,

I was just curious if anyone has heard anything about the Toys R Us Bricktober event?
Last years figure sets were sweet and I'm hoping they do something equally cool this year.

Thanks!

They always do something, it's normally magnets, but last year's was something nice.

I'm more hoping we get our normal B2G1Free that takes place sometime in September.

I found an ad from club magazine. There will be minifigs trade and superman mosaic build event. I am not sure if this is exclusive to Canada only.

Thanks for the info!!

I'm somewhat skeptical about the lego minifigure trades at TRU, does anyone know how TRU does it? Is it like the Legoland type trades? Does TRU get a bunch of generic minifigs from Lego for the trade event?

Yeah the trade event seems like a cool idea, and a weird one at the same time. Might be a Canadain only thing.

In the US, the superman mosiac has been done before (you could choose superman or batman). It was a build on a Saturday.

I really liked the the Monster Fighters skeleton promo set that was given out for the Halloween build event last year.

Glow in the dark spider, a skeleton mini fig, and a MF glow in the dark sticker sheet = awesome!

Does anyone know if they have figure sets again this time?

I looked through the Sept/Oct 2013 Club Magazine (City Coastguard on cover) that I picked up in-store yesterday, this add was not in the magazine. So perhaps it is Canada only. I did not look through the Club Jr. version.

I wonder if TRU USA will have something worthwhile during Bricktober. They did a pretty good job with the classic minifigure sets (LEGO didn't quite use all the right pieces, but it was a nice value). It's getting really close, you would think we would know the news by now.

Minifigure Vintage Collection 5? Same as the ones from past year I believe. I guess that is strike one, let see what kind of sales they have, and let us all hope they are not strike outs.

*Update, so they are not the old ones from past year, but the sales are very weak, 20% off Chima, Ninjago and Technic. I will pass.

I'm not sure but weren't there only 4 collections last year? I'd still get one even if it is the same collection from last year. Bricktober is only once a year and it's a good item for trade\resell.

I seem to recall 4 sets last year as well. Is this #5?

I remember there were only 4 Vol. last year. I only got one pack last year, so it is nice TRUs has delivered this again.

According to the ad, vol 1 of this minifigs vintage pack will be available this Friday. I assume 5 means 5 minifigs in one pack.

I found 3 of the minifigs from this #5 appearing at last year's vol 3. pack.

Personally, I'm more interested in seeing what the LEGO sales are for bricktober then the giveaways. Although the Superman Shield Make and Take does strike my fancy.

Image of minifigs pack has shown up from latest flyer. Not vintage. It is a pack with 4 2012/2013 City people and 1 jester from last Kingdoms series.

Post by Toys N Bricks » Thu Sep 26, 2013 8:49 pm

Flickr user ninnymuggins has posted images of two of the other 2013 Bricktober LEGO Minifigure Collections (Volume 2 and 3). For folks living in Canada, remember that Toys R Us will be giving away the minifigure collection volume 1 with LEGO purchases above $75. Thanks to FBTB and forum member brickmont13 for the news.

I saw the top one with the jester for sale today in the Auburn, MA TRU. The jester hat was obscuring the face as it had been knocked off. Other than that everything overpriced as usual.
