BOGO 50% off Star Wars and City Lego sets at Target

Post by ricefields » Thu Dec 05, 2013 8:06 pm

based on local flyer in richmond hill, target stores will be carrying this promotion from dec 6-12.
Nothing exciting but wondering if it can stack on top of already-discounted sets.

Does anyone know if Target starting to stock the new 2014 city set yet?
Went to my local Target but doesn't seems to have the new one in stock. I really want to take advantage of this BOGO deal.
thanks

It should work on all LEGO sets. Discount does not apply directly when cashing out, but cashiers are aware of it and will do the BOGO 50%off manually.

I've bought mismatch of LOTR and superheroes sets and got the deal.

Confirming that the BOGO works on ALL LEGO and clearance, I just picked up the Galaxy Squad Bug Obliterator and the Vermin Vaporizer for a smooth $51. The discount didn't pop up automatically but my cashier put it in manually!

Has anyone tried to buy Friends Lego with the BOGO?

Yes even the scary big bug set is out of stock now. I bet it was due to the scrapers and hoarders whom were hard at work. Calendars are not store wide, only a few stores marked them down, and those that did are all out of stock now because of those hard working people. On behalf of all to most retailers, congratulations and thankyou to those that help to clear shelf spaces for new stocks. But good luck to those that plan on banking on these sets at regular or 20% off resell pricing, they really should wake up and smell the coffee.

They price match % off sales now too? Also the extra 10% is off the sale price and not the regular price for your info.

You're extremely lucky. Posted signs in the Lego aisle only state City, SW, TMNT and Lego Princess qualify for the sale.

I think you got an inexperienced cashier.

BTW...picked up 1 SW and 1 City Advent calendar. Paid $15 and $6 ($12-50%) respectively.

Ok, so here's my experience. Went to the Target in Orillia (Ontario) today. Found the LEGO section, saw the big sign about the BOGO. Read the fine print. Says only on Star Wars, City, TMNT, and Disney Princess. It also says that both sets must be from the same theme. So, I ask someone about it. He checks, and I hear the manager say, no, has to be like the sign. So, I put back the Hobbit Elf Army set and LOTR council of Elrond sets. I then spot two Galaxy Squad sets. The Bug Obliterator (MSRP 99.99) and the Vermin Vaporizer (MSRP $74.99) There were two of each. Only one had a tag on it, so I took them to the scanner and scanned them. The Oblierator scanned at $29.99 (70% off) and the Vaporizer scanned at $22.49 (70% off). So I thought those are good (no, incredible) prices, I'll grab one of each. I then went looking for a Friends set my daughter wanted. It was sold out, but they had a whole box of the series 2 Friends Polybags marked $1.79 (regular $5.99) so since we needed loot bag stuff for my daughters birthday party, I grabbed 8 of them. I go to the cash to pay. The total comes up less then I was expecting. The Vaporizer has been reduced by 50%, bringing it down to $11.25! The cashier did not enter an override, it just happened. The Friends poly's did not get BOGOed.

So all I can assume is, if the sets (not Friends apparently) are the same line, the BOGO is coming of automatically. I was tempted to go back and try again with the Hobbit and LOTR set, but I didn't have time. But, at the end of the day, I got a 700 piece set for $30, and a 500+ piece set for $11! Plus the super cheap Friends polybags. When I left, there was 1 of each of the Galaxy squad sets, and almost two full boxes of the polys left.

The BOGO only applied to Star Wars and City at my location. Cashier tried Lord of the Rings and Creator, no go, and said her manager told her only those counted. The sign is a bit misleading, says Lego Bogo 50%, but then under in smaller print "includes Star Wars and City".

I just bought two Galaxy Squad sets (original price about $175 together, ex tax), for $47 including tax. Cashier took the BOGO off without even asking. So I'm really pleased. One is for a Christmas present to a Salvation army family and one just as a present to myself.

Good for you, now if only we have more people like yourself around instead of those scrappers and hoarders, then this world would be a much much better place.

Heh :) thanks, that is a very nice compliment...

Hmm, maybe a totally informal suggestion/idea for the readers on this forum? A little pre-New Years resolution? Help spread the hobby by donating a Lego set to the Salvation Army or similar, so a less fortunate kid can get a really nice (and, let's be honest - 'high end') Christmas present? Of course food and more basic items are more important, but I can only imagine what it must be like to be a parent who cannot afford to give their kid a nice Christmas present.

Anyway, just a thought.
