The winch isn't new, it was on the Coast Guard chopper a few years ago.
My kids, having been to a museum, would think that a large scale LEGO museum would be the coolest thing in the world, so I guess that Dad's going to have to MOC one using this as a starting point. I'm surprised they didn't use the Atlantis column pieces though.
As for the fire station, the old one is already on clearance at many stores. I've got two already, so I passed on it a few times, but it's a good parts pack with lots of windows and garage doors.
As for the price point on some of the new LEGO sets, I agree 100%. I love some of the modulars, but making the jump from the $120 price point (Kingdoms Joust) to the $150+ price point is a jump that I just can't bring myself to take. Even the $120 price point is a stretch for me, while I think nothing of buying $100 sets for my kids as presents (although usually I try to buy those on sale). I'm adding the Maersk train on my Christmas wish list this year, and the new passenger train may be my birthday wish, but those would only be the second and third $120 set I've bought after Joust. I really love the Fire Brigade, Grand Emporium, and Haunted House, but the prices are just too steep for me.
I will say this, if the rumor is true on the next modular, I may finally make the jump. I'm kicking myself that I missed out on Town Plan, because I love that Cinema... so if the next modular is a theater and if it looks great, I probably won't be able to pass it up.
