Pretty cool sets in my head-can't wait to see them. Probably the van, sewer home and a Shredder dojo or something? will Bebop and Rocksteady be minifigs?

The thing we might have to worry about is that this theme is most likely based on the current incarnation of the TMNT cartoon. Most of us here are older, and grew up with a possibly much different TMNT (I don't know for certain, I haven't seen the new one). It might suffer from a mild case of 'Clone Wars' syndrome.

But it's too soon to speculate this much without photos. I, for one, am excited regardless. TMNT to me is like LotR to some of the folks here lol.

I'm thinking "maxifigs" a la Cave Troll, Dinos, Rancor.
Honestly I don't love the maxifig format and wish they would make big figs out of more, smaller parts that could be reused, or at least put more stud or other connect points on them, but LEGO has clearly committed to this "action figure"-ish style.

I was just a couple years to old to like TMNT when I was a kid. That being said I had not heard of the new TMNT that some have mentioned in this thread.

Frankly I loved Ninjago, it was full of awesome ridiculousness and great parts. I surely didn't want it to end sooner for TMNT... or any other theme for that matter. The quote was from youtube video posted a while back:

I love Ninjago too, and 'awesome ridiculousness', as vynsane so eloquently put it, is the absolute best description there is for the theme. It was like they embraced all the things your average 8-12 year old boy would like, mashed them all together, and came out with a really fun series of sets. And the fact that it was grounded with NINJAS just made it work. Defintely sad to see it come to an end, but at the same time, I don't want to see it dragged out and milked dry. I almost wish that Epic Dragon Battle was the final set of the series, because it'll be hard to top!

Back on topic, I'm anxious to see what TMNT is gonna look like. There's definitely plenty of source material to make sets out of, but the look of the minifigs will be key. If the four turtles look great, then I think this theme will be a hit, regardless of what incarnation of TMNT we're fans of.

I don't know about the new series but the old one didn't have that many characters. I was a huge TMNT fan from the comic books. One thing for sure, I want another VW bus.

We've seen the set earlier today and now, here's the official press release for the new 2013 Nickelodeon licensed theme that I forgot to include earlier this morning. There will also be 2 exclusive LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle minifigures. New York Comic Con attendees will be given the chance to enter a raffle (thursday at 4pm, Friday and Saturday at 11am) to win the Dark Turtle minifigure while the second minifigure known as Krang Android will be available at the Rockefeller LEGO Store on Saturday. (pictures and news via FBTB)

The Krang is kinda bumming me out. It could've been super cool -- Oversize like a troll but with a clear belly and a specially printed Krang brain head. Not just a print on a torso of a regular minifig! Not feeling the Splinter, either.

But the Shredder and the turtles look great!
