LEGO Passenger Train on sale for £67.25 (Ships Worldwide)

Post by Toys N Bricks » Mon Aug 27, 2012 5:02 pm

Update 2: Price has went up a bit to £77.25.

Update: It appears they did not ban everything as a few non-license sets still ships worldwide. (thanks Mrcoolnup) However, many items that used to be available for international shipping are no longer available. (back in February, almost all LEGO qualifies for international shipping)

As we all know, Amazon United Kingdom has now banned international LEGO shipments. Though, it appears they forgot to ban the Passenger Train. The set is now on sale for £67.25. After factoring 16.7% tax discount and shipping, this works out to be $96.38 USD based on current 1.58 exchange rate.

The set retails at $129.99 USD / $169.99 CAD so this effectively works out to be 26% off for USA or 43% off for Canada. Don't forget no tax for United States (most likely also including states that now charges tax for Amazon.com orders) too! Plus, each additional passenger train only cost an extra £1-2 for shipping.

Price for a Passenger Train

USA/Canada: £56.04 + £4.95 shipping = £60.99 (~$96.38)
Outside of Europe: £56.04 + £22.58 shipping = £78.62
Europe: £67.25 + Free shipping

*Base price for Europe may differ 1-2% depending on your country's VAT.

They don't ban everything...it just seems to be mostly licensed sets and a few random other ones. I ordered City Airport 3182 and passenger plane 3181 and it came to a total of $117 delivered for both. I used a Capital One card that does not charge foreign transaction fees. On Lego.com the same sets were $139 plus tax and shipping...over $160 if ordered that way. There was a Technic helicopter I wanted, but it wouldn't let me order that. So I always test and see at checkout.

This is a great price for the train which I already have. Thanks for posting as it made me check my cart and order above items at a better price than they were.

You're not missing something. Amazon prices fluctuate rapidly. I bought it at £67.25 but at 1.6423 conversion making it $100 USD out the door for me plus maybe a foreign transaction fee from my bank chase which I'm not sure but I think can't be more then $2-$3. If you see it on Amazon and thinks its a good price, better just go ahead and buy instead of "sitting on it to think about it" or if you see the deal posted hours later, its too late. Its annoying why they do that, but Amazon do have excellent price and services.

I wanted to get the truck 3227 at 57% off also but that one was not eligible for USA destination shipping.

Exchange rate is 1.58 and your bank charges you 1.64? (so literally 6% plus another $2-3) Those fees are quite high!

I use Bank of America and it only charges me 2.5% for foreign transaction fees (1.5% after you factor in 1% cashback).

Yes, that deal has been going for quite a while but it only ships out to Europe. Mobile Police Unit did at 57% off but its sold out now.
