[USA] ToysRUs 20% off Regular & Sale Price Purchase
This week from March 30 to April 5, Toys R Us USA stores and online will be offering 20% off your regular & sale-price purchase (with coupon below). Some items like the new micro LEGO Star Wars Tie Interceptor has not been marked up yet and is still priced at $9.99. Hopefully, some of their sale prices remains the same from last week.

Just remember abut 25% (If not more) of LEGO sets are a hot price item or Red hot or whatever and will not work.
I might pick up a few Mixels. $4.40 is still better than $5.

Yup, a lot of exclusions as usual, but still a few deals to be had...

There is not much to buy. The prices are inflated.

A Toys r Us by me has had 8 SSD on the shelf since they were released and they didn't sell when they were 399.99 and the BOGO sales took them to 299.99 or even 279.99. At 539.99 and no longer qualifying for sales they will sit for an eternity.

I picked up the Droid Gunship and Coruscant Police Gunship since they are only $2 over MSRP.

Star Wars Super Pack 66473 is $99.99 (normally 139.99) and the coupon code works. 1360 pieces and 11 minifigs for 79.99 +tax with free shipping. I scored 2 of these deals.

I used it at a TRU in Roseville, CA and he had a code for R'Us credit card users that took off 25%. So you might want to ask about that if you have one and go in store.

The Super Pack has been changed to $119.99.
Big surprise; huh?

Re: [USA] ToysRUs 20% off Regular & Sale Price Purchase
I've been pretty vocal about TRU and their price shenanigans for some time; but I am surprised (genuinely) that latest wave of super hero sets have been marked up a mere $2. (As opposed to $40 sets marked up to $70 and "slashed" back down to $60 or $65) ...
Now all of them except the Joker Steamroller have been tagged "Hot Price" (and I won't even go into why a coupon that says regular AND sale priced items has an exclusion like hot price), but at least that's one set, that's been released only a month that this is actually a good deal :)

That's typical TRU. New sets are usually at MSRP for a short period of time. Then TRU jacks up the price and keeps it there.
I always wonder the way TRU manipulates its prices to create the illusion of "sale", is it even legal?

Would you believe that lego is involved in setting those prices...start asking questions, you will be very surprised.

Yes, Lego sets a MSRP. But what is being talked about is TRU raising the prices of items that are on "sale" so that whatever markdown is being given brings the price back down to what they would charge normally.zztoy wrote:Would you believe that lego is involved in setting those prices...start asking questions, you will be very surprised.

It's legal because they aren't claiming that their high price is MSRP but their "normal" price. If it's illegal Toys R Us can just pay off the people making laws, that's legal now.legoInsano wrote:That's typical TRU. New sets are usually at MSRP for a short period of time. Re: [USA] ToysRUs 20% off Regular & Sale Price Purchase
While I agree that the price increase is not as bad as before, $2 increase on a $20 set is still a 10% markup. So in the end, a 20% coupon after a 10% markup is only slightly better than 10% off MSRP.The-Daryl wrote:I've been pretty vocal about TRU and their price shenanigans for some time; but I am surprised (genuinely) that latest wave of super hero sets have been marked up a mere $2. Which is why I actually specifically mentioned the Joker Steamroller as being a good deal; the $19.99 sets marked at $21.99 are "hot price", and are ineligible. :)mirrorboxer wrote:While I agree that the price increase is not as bad as before, $2 increase on a $20 set is still a 10% markup.
