Amazon Europe: LEGO City Cargo Train 29% off (~$133 USD or $163 CAD Shipped)

Post by Toys N Bricks » Sat Apr 18, 2015 1:44 pm

Amazon Europe UK currently has 60052 LEGO City Cargo Train on sale for £99.99 (reg.£139.99). Free delivery with no minimum purchase for the United Kingdom. Unfortunately, European customers outside of UK and Ireland will now be charged a shipping fee. As always, prices include VAT already. More LEGO deals are available on their Bestsellers List.

International Shipping Available

Select items can be shipped internationally. If you are living outside of Europe, remember that you can get an additional 16.7% off as you do not need to pay for EURO British tax as European price tags have tax included (can be seen at final stage of checkout). Remember that no matter where you are from, you still save on shipping when you order more!

Price for a LEGO City Cargo Train set

United States: £83.33 + £4.95 = £88.28 (~$133 USD based on 1.5 exchange rate) – regularly retails for $199.99 USD so that’s like 34% off!
Canada: £83.33 + £4.95 = £88.28 (~$163 CAD based on 1.85 exchange rate) – regularly retails for $229.99 CAD so that’s like 29% off
Outside of Europe: £37.73 + £25.32 = £108.65
Europe: Base price (~1-2% difference) and shipping may vary depending on your country
United Kingdom: £99.99

What about the risk of duties?

In addition to duties, what about GST and QST?

Looks like GST and QST would apply (other provinces would charge the apropriate sales tax) but no duty based on the following website:

my experience is that if it ships in such a way that final delivery is by Canada Post, there's a good chance you won't pay any tax. But if final delivery is by UPS, you'll be on the hook for PST/GST/HST/QST/whateverST plus a $10 fee. After an initial run of good luck, almost all my orders from Amazon Europe have been delivered by UPS and incur the fee and tax. So assume the worst and only order if you still consider it a good deal after tax + $10.

A few years ago, nearly all my orders were sent via DHL.. I would never pay any duties.. then last year it seemed to reverse and nearly all my orders were sent with UPS..

I have had orders lost/damaged with DHL, and maybe that is why the change... also be careful.. if you order 3 trains at once, they may actually send each separately, and in that case you would get dinged the $10 surcharge on EACH.
