LEGO FUSION Sets Now Listed at LEGO Shop at Home

Post by Toys N Bricks » Tue Jul 01, 2014 5:06 pm

The new LEGO Fusion sets are now listed at LEGO Shop at Home with full product descriptions and pictures. As mentioned earlier with the press release, all of these new LEGO Fusion sets will be available beginning in August 2014. LEGO Friends Fusion Resort Designer will be released a month later in September 2014. These sets will be available exclusively only from LEGO and Toys R Us.

21024 Fusion Town Master (256 pieces)
21205 Fusion Battle Towers (212 pieces)
21206 Fusion Create & Race (223 pieces)
210208 Fusion Resort Designer (263 pieces) - LEGO Friends

This all new theme features a downloadable app and a Fusion capture plate piece which allows a smart phone or tablet to identify the LEGO creation. Basically, you build a creation and then you capture it with the app. Each game play encourages playing back and forth in both the physical (brick building) and virtual (smart phone or tablet) worlds.

These look great. I want it bad, but I know I'll never get around to play it. Wish I had the freetime of a kid. I only just saw The LEGO Movie and started playing the game based on it. I own all the other TT LEGO games on 3DS + X360 and haven't gotten around to LOTR, Batman 2, Marvel, Hobbit!

Has anyone purchased one of these? I'd like to know what you think of the product. I'm considering getting one for my nephew, but I read something about having to buy more money for all the game features.

It is a subscription based AP.
I have inoperable cancer and am unable to work. Any gifts would be appreciated. Thank you!

Thanks, ncbarrett! I'll pass on this one as I don't like subscriptions.

Wait, what? You have to buy the set and THEN pay to use the app? Nothing I've read has said that so far, and all the product information says it's a free app download from Apple, Google, Samsung or Amazon. Are you sure it's subscription-based? I think that would be a real detriment if true and will result in a lot of unhappy parents who were under the impression that the app was free.

Just checked, and each product description mentions "free app" multiple times with no mention of a subscription. I would think, however, that the app won't be available for download to anyone, but based on a redemption voucher/code for use at the various app stores in order to download it (to make sure you purchased the physical product).

I believe ncbarret is correct. I asked becsuse in the LEGO product description is says: includes a free trial of the full experience. It's buried among other product info. That to me means the $35 for a handful of bricks is not enough. You must pay more money to have full use with the app. Then what happens when they stop supporting the product? Seems like a ripoff.

^ Wow, yeah, you're right! I concede the point, ncbarrett. Apparently I gave LEGO too much credit here in thinking they were playing it smart, but now I see they've shot themselves in the foot. What a bonehead move, TLG.

Apps are available in App Store. I downloaded the race one and was able to build a car and race it without the fusion box. So kind of confused.

Maybe multiplayer functionality or other advanced capabilities are for a fee. Perhaps the fee can turn the baic vehicle into an advanced model for the TNB SuperHero Vehicle build contest!

It says Free App on the front of the box.
The description details: "instructions for downloading the free Resort Designer App, required for gameplay".

Are you sure it is subscription based? Doubtful. I could see In-App purchases for more quests beyond the regular game, but otherwise I don't see trickery.
