retired product and value

Hmm.. i'm new to this lego world and i really love it.
im a player and also an investor. Recently someone that i know told me that retired product will have their value increases from time to time. But.. some of the product won't..
maybe we can share our opinion on what product that will have their value increase and what product that will stuck..

Once again this is just an opinion..

Let me put it this way, go to the store, buy a set that costs at least $150, wait couple years, you'll make money.
Modulars, big Star Wars, ideas, some bigger technic...on most lego you'll make money...it's hot stuff
