The Next LEGO Ideas Sets (First 2014 LEGO Review)

Post by Toys N Bricks » Fri Nov 07, 2014 8:40 am

The next two LEGO Ideas sets have just been announced! They will be The Big Bang Theory by Alatariel and collaborator GlenBricker as well as The Bird Project by DeTomaso. Congrats!

The LEGO Review Board is still evaluating the two Doctor Who concepts and will update us soon whether they will be made into official LEGO Ideas sets.  All other projects (Back to the Future Train and Modular Apple Store) from the first 2014 LEGO Review period will not be produced into official LEGO sets. Full details available at LEGO Ideas Blog.

Doctor Who will be made, I'm certain. Peter kind of smiled about it at NYC Comic Con to a few of us. I think they are holding it because announcing three now would be too much, and most of the next review isn't realistically going to happen.

I'm a bit surprised by the rejection of the BTTF train, though I'm sure it doesn't have the iconic power of the DeLorean and that was probably the main detractor in the review. Obviously licensing isn't an issue.

I'm glad the birds got selected. The models are well done for the size.

The train set was the most attractive model to me so I'm disappointed that was not selected. I suppose the DeLorean didn't sell well enough to justify another Back to the Future set?

I'm not interested in big bang theory so that's a bust for me.

Dr. Who is made by another company, so I do not see LEGO getting the rights to it. The bird is nice but I would like to see TBBT in LEGO, since there was an episode with LEGO in it.

Actually, Dr Who is no longer being made by that other company (name escapes me) so I think they are just delaying the announcement until the next review period so they can work out the license.

Very excited for the the newly announced lego sets. I feel Doctor Who Lego set should be launched as it would be very interesting to play.
