[USA] 10% off LEGO Sale on Online Exclusives
March 19 Update: Most of the items are now sold out. Only ones remaining are the Death Star, Medieval Market Village and Imperial Shuttle.
Amazon has just made some more price matches from Toys R Us and now has their online exclusives on sale for 10% off. Don't forget that all these items ships for free and no tax to most states as well! Thanks to forum members happymark and kamicode for the news.
Highly recommended sets would be the 2 modular buildings and the Star Wars Death Star. Those are quite hard to get a discount on and usually sells out fast when there's a sale. The Super Star Destroyer and Medieval Market Village sets are also a nice buy.

The SSD, Death Star, Pet Shop, and GE are all 10% off on amazon as well.

Now, I'm debating whether or not to just buy the Death Star. Will it be EOL soon? Is this the best deal for it?kamicode wrote:The SSD, Death Star, Pet Shop, and GE are all 10% off on amazon as well.

Dang. I just bought Super Star Destroyer for $380 a week or two ago. Those are some good prices for those items.
Many people have speculated that Death Star is near EOL. I'm guessing the same. The best price I ever got on it was $365 when it first came out (with eBay's vs Google war cash back program). I don't think I've seen anything better until now.
The only sale that would beat this is LEGO's crazy holiday sale with 25% off EOL items assuming that the Death Star lasts all year.

Re: [USA] 10% off LEGO Sale on Online Exclusives
Given that Lego has not done the crazy discounts this year that they did last year, do we all really think we'll see this for 25% off?
Anything is possible, but I doubt it, if they are smart they'll manage production right and it will just drift off and be gone one day.
But what the heck do I know. :)

Re: [USA] 10% off LEGO Sale on Online Exclusives
I'm wondering if the Death Star will go out with a bang during Lego's May the 4th sale this year, kind of the same way the UCS Falcon did. The set has been around a while so it seems like its time may be up soon.
Then again, if last years May the 4th sale is any indication, I wouldn't get any hope up for this year's.
Either way it's a gamble, but if you're getting the set at ANY discount (which is rare) you're not going wrong.

The Death star is going nowhere anytime soon, at least not until we have a replacement.

I hope they're working on a "Death Star-style" Bespin Cloud City playset. It could be awesome!

Dagobah would be an awesome Death Star replacement.
They could even make a Yoda back pack for the Luke minifig.

4 years is an ancient run for most sets, so I'd be extremely surprised if this were still being manufactured after 2012.Follows Closely wrote:The Death star is going nowhere anytime soon, at least not until we have a replacement.
As for replacement, not sure I follow, because this is kinda a unique set, being a HUGE set that's got tons of playability. In any event, I consider the Super Star Destroyer the replacement for this set simply because of the size and price point.
In any event, it's a hell of a set - totally worth it even at full price, and I don't say that about many sets.

Missed out on Grand Emporium, it's between Petshop and MMV for me, I have enough to get one now but not both, I'm leaning toward MMV because it may be reaching EOL soon (at least some time this year). Petshop probably has a year or two before it gets fazed out.

You have a while until the Pet Shop is ELO'd. Get the MMV, it could be your last chance.nick91884 wrote:Missed out on Grand Emporium, it's between Petshop and MMV for me, I have enough to get one now but not both, I'm leaning toward MMV because it may be reaching EOL soon (at least some time this year). Pet Shop is out now so that will make the decision easier.nick91884 wrote:Missed out on Grand Emporium, it's between Petshop and MMV for me, I have enough to get one now but not both, I'm leaning toward MMV because it may be reaching EOL soon (at least some time this year). Picked up the Death Star last night. I was going to wait until next month but I couldn't pass up $40.00 off.

I had randomly checked again right before I posted that...grabbed one for myself. Can't beat what essentially amounts to $80 off if you live in CA...
