Yeah, you're not kidding. There are some really inspired designs coming from LEGO these days.

Wow. At first it just looks like another 10235, had different booths. But when I see that you can fit the booth, ride, high striker and dunk tank on the truck. That's amazing. Love that idea.

Very Impressive. I have to be choosy about what sets I collect and I usually don't get many creator sets but this is pretty amazing. Very well done.

Jamie Berard really knows how to design for kids and adults alike. Whatever they're paying him they should double it.
Re: Expert Creator 10244 Fairground Mixer LEGO Official Pre
This is unconventionally modular. Excellent design and lots of little details, May will be an expensive month for my wallet. Considering the winter village market perfectly integrates with this set I feel we should be expecting more exciting additions to the fair theme.
Re: Expert Creator 10244 Fairground Mixer LEGO Official Pre
While it is designed to be motorized - it doesn't not include a motor or the battery pack. What's really a paradigm shift is in the design because the fairgrounds is not only transported but easily transforms off from the truck that is transporting it - essentially a puzzle within a puzzle like the Transformer toy robots. Adding a motor and battery pack would require an additional truck ( electric generator truck?) which would have put the cost of the kit over $200 ( which would be rather risky imho) so I agree with the decision not to add the electric motor and battery pack... still in a perfect world I would have added an electric generator truck...

Disappointed in this one. I was hoping for something that fits in with the modular line, similar to the carousel, but this looks like city set. The foldable nature looks like it may be fun to play with but on display, it just looks like scattered collection of vehicles and other bits.

Love this. Am I reading too much into the fact that it's called "Fairground Mixer" instead of just "Mixer"? Perhaps the plan is if this sells well enough to add more Fairground items every 9-12 months, on a similar schedule to modular buildings. I don't have the previous Ferris Wheel or Carousel, but I don't think either of them were branded as "Fairgrounds" or had the pack-up-on-a-truck functionality; I am not sure if the Ferris Wheel was even Minifigure scale. Seems like this could make the start of a fun new line -- big ride, plus two or three smaller fair attractions, all of which pack up on a truck, and then throw in a ton of minifigures.

Also notice the other faded carnival attractions on the box artwork-- even a roller coaster!

Its very cool. Very fun and I love that it can be packed up and loaded onto trucks. I won't be buying it though. Even if the price is good (based upon piece count) I want more for my money. I want a building or something more substantial. Maybe they could have included less minifigures to help reduce the price?
Don't get me wrong I think the designer did a great job and it has lots of good pieces and minifigures but I think its too expensive for a carnival ride, trucks, a couple of booths and minifigures.

When you say "mixer" in the US, the first thing people think of is most likely a kitchen appliance, so they probably had to include "fairground" to reduce confusion.johnfromks wrote:Love this. Am I reading too much into the fact that it's called "Fairground Mixer" instead of just "Mixer"?

You are reading to much into it. I think your idea of a year set is awesome, but I think LEGO just didn't want to confuse "mixer" of cement and such to this ride mixer.johnfromks wrote:Love this. Re: 10244 LEGO Fairground Mixer
The flip out ride is cool, but it's got 1750 extremely small pieces. So $150 for a bunch of 1x1 circular plates is a no go for me. For $99-119 though it would be a nice set. For $150 it's an overpriced semi and extra truck.
Compacted this looks like a deluxe version of the $34.99 police surveillance truck.
