It's been cheaper. I've seen it for $12x at Target, $126 I think. I've seen a destroyed box one for $112. It will go on sale before summer as the new train sets will be coming out in, I believe, August. The new passenger train looks awesome and I guess you can use your phone to control them.

To answer a question before it's asked. Buy your normal size. Yes it's a Japanese company but the sizes are the same as other USA brands. I have 3-4 of the last group (they do about 1-3 groups of LEGO starts a year), the last ones were better designs.
