Re: LEGO STAR WARS MAY BE DISCOUNTINUED IN 2011
I guess I wasn't clear - my co-worker's son bought ONLY non-SW sets because they were a better value for his hard-saved money. As I pointed out above, the greater picture is how many releases there are in a year, how they're spread out, and how they're priced - looking at the forest, they seem to p...

Re: LEGO STAR WARS MAY BE DISCOUNTINUED IN 2011
That's only if no one buys them, which is pretty much not possible (because if no one else does, I will buy them ;)). I have documented proof, from a co-worker, where he brought his kids (who are all into LEGO) into NYC to go to the huge TRU in Times Sq. They had a BOGO50% sale going on at the time...

Re: LEGO STAR WARS MAY BE DISCOUNTINUED IN 2011
True, in this example, they not only made "$50 on a $30" set, but the Atlantis set is still on the shelf for someone else to buy - it's all profit for them in that respect. That said, I'm predicting a lot more people will hold off to buy the newer SW sets on sale or hoping for clearances,...

Re: LEGO STAR WARS MAY BE DISCOUNTINUED IN 2011
but from TLG's point of view, they changed a potential 20$ sale on the Atlantis Line, to an actual sale on the SW line. To them it's not lost money. For them it's the same amount of income, but production cost is also lower. They do however have to pay some royalties to LucasArts, but I am assuming...

Re: LEGO STAR WARS MAY BE DISCOUNTINUED IN 2011
How is that even possible? let me answer that with a question "Are you going to stop buying Lego?" As long as the answer is no (just like me) TLG can get away with this kind of prizing :) the effect on sales is more pronounced than you think. while in general you think it doesn'...

Re: What will 10216 do to 10199?
the only reason why 10199 is at $100-110 level is because that's what it costs currently from other region. you do know 10199 is still available on S@H, but in countries other than US and CA. 10216 has no bearing on 10199 and the price can only go up once the other countries also sold out of this set.

Re: TRU reward members gets 20% one-time use coupon
Yeah, I've received those $5 off coupons before. What's annoying is that if you get more than one $5 off coupon they don't let you use it on the same visit and worst it's spread out so that only one applies per month...but I guess a discount is a discount and if one were to buy anyhow it's better t...

Re: TRU reward members gets 20% one-time use coupon
not all members get the 20% off coupon. some will get $5 off coupon. there is no minimum purchase, so effectively you get $5 free lego if you get a small set. but price in the cost of gas to drive to a TRU store...not sure if it's worth it. :)

no. the minifigs came from the vintage mf collection series. i can't remember if it was 3 or 4. probably dismantled and sold as pamf parts. in the next 3-6mth you'll probably see green wraps and the green forestwoman parts in the tubs. try to contain your excitement over the possibility of a f...

just get from whichever is cheapest and available. ;) i used to love amazon but it doesn't price match anymore and frankly it also starts to raise prices like TRU. target has excellent selection and can surprise you with like 10-15% off and stackable with coupons which are like 10-15% off, and...

Re: Lego Minifigures Barcode PDF Auction?!
As a Lego enthusiast with kids who NEVER saw the minifigs in any store, it's hard for me to fathom how joe average on ebay would even consider the info useful, let alone valuable. I reported one of those $20 auctioners through the futile automated process when I ran across it, since they are intent...

Re: BN.com 40% off Toys & Games with Coupon
Check your numbers folks, you're not getting 40% off. The actual discount is 30%. I added one Battle of Alamut and the discount rang up to be $23.98. This is 30% of the list price of $79.95, so you don't even get the extra 10% off. Weird. Before the extra 10%, I was able to get 40% off even without...

Y Wing $58.45
