Re: The Winchester made it to 10,000 votes on CUUSOO!

Yeah, it certainly came down to the source material of the set. SOTD is an extremely violent, gory, and vulgar movie...one of the reasons it's so well loved :) However, I'm sure there was a business aspect to this as well. The project hit 10k after Simon Pegg started talking it up, which means many ...

Re: [Winners] Microbuild LEGO Tournament 2012

@blackpyre - nice comments and sound advice. I had fun with this and approached it as more of an opportunity to get to know how to use LDD with an actual goal in mind. I was happy with my build and I learned a few things looking at other builds, so I guess that's all that counts.

Loved both of those. This was a fun contest and really got me thinking about mini-builds. Thanks for running it!

Re: LEGO Store Grand Opening Celebrations (TN, NY, BC, WI)

I agree, the Mayfair store was smaller than I expected, but they use the space well. I think it's similar in size to the store North of Chicago. The Schaumburg store is similar to the photos Ice posted. Still, they use the space very well. It did not feel crowded at all. In the Schaumburg store I fe...

Re: LEGO Store Grand Opening Celebrations (TN, NY, BC, WI)

Friday is probably out of the question. Getting it Sunday probably depends largely on whether they have any left after Saturday.

I'm not a big CITY fan, but that dump truck is freaking sweet.

Re: [Entries] Microbuild LEGO Tournament 2012

Recently building some of the mini-modulars inspired me to make my own attempt at this. Here's my entry, a nice little church. At 185 pieces, I tried to keep it a little simple. I wanted to avoid over decorating. I used transparent blocks inside to help the windows catch a little natural light since...

Local store was out of the sets already, so I didn't bother placing an order to be shipped. Looks like that was probably for the best since it likely would have been canceled.

I was also a little conflicted on abusing the glitch, ethically speaking. Guess now I don't have to worry about it.

I can't wait for the store in Tosa to open. It looks like I'll be heading over super early for a mini.

Re: Hi from Wisconisn!

I, too was into castle when I was a kid (late '80s/early '90s). I recently pulled out all of my old sets from my parents' basement and put them together (it was a great walk down memory lane). I've sold nearly all of them though, to feed my Star Wars and DC LEGO addictions. :) I have been very temp...

Hi from Wisconisn!

Hello! I'm an AFOL who has been back in the hobby for about four months, following a set of dark ages that lasted for well over a decade. Thankfully my parents never got rid of all of my childhood sets and I've been having fun getting those sorted and put back together. I collect mainly vintage and ...
