2015 LEGO Modular Building Revealed: 10246 Detective's Office

Post by Toys N Bricks » Sat Nov 15, 2014 9:41 pm

The 2015 LEGO Modular Building has finally surfaced! The next building will be LEGO 10246 Detective's Office from the Creator Expert line. It contains 2262 pieces and 6 minifigures. Looks like you get 2 mini buildings like the Pet Shop, but they can't be separated. No pricing details are available yet, but it should be priced similar to previous modular building sets. We should have the press release soon in the next few weeks so stay tune for that. (via Eurobricks)

What are your impressions on this new modular building?

I love it! The brick front gives it such a classic look. I hope that continues into the exterior and the noir style goes throughout. Can't wait for more images!

I don't collect the line at all because I'd want them all and that's not possible. But *&$%! That's beautiful!

The way those buildings and baseplates are structured in the images, it looks like they're not independent of each other like the Pet Shop is. It really looks like it's two buildings that share a center wall.

Which isn't necessarily bad, but not quite as flexible for street layouts if that's the case.

I've never really had too much of a desire to buy any of the modulars....but this one is a must for me!
And the name of the detective...Ace Bricktura!

^ It's actually hard to tell, as the pixel depth isn't the greatest, but it looks more like "Ace Brickham" or "Ace Bricklian" to me. Definitely ends with an M or N, not an A.

Holy crap, it looks awesome. Barber Shop, Pool Hall, P.I. office and apartments... It's even got the "dame in the red dress"!

Also, cool new "Expert" logo. A negative-space star made out of 2x2 bricks.

Cool! The last few modular buildings have been great! I've always liked them. Didn't buy the first __ because I simply didn't like the price tags. I couldn't resist the Haunted House despite the price and I'm glad I bought it. I'm saving up VIP points for the Restaurant. Now I'll have to start saving up money for this one as well. Hopefully it and the Restaurant will be around for a few years so that I can get them.

I think they sort of had to start with very common buildings like a Courthouse, Fire Department and other buildings that cities must have. Now they can begin with the more fun and unusual buildings! I think this one is a great idea! I also like how its built.

Did anyone notice the mixel joint pieces on the front of the pool hall? What a clever idea for architecture detail!

I still really want a library and museum (in the future) and think a city would need them.

I agree, this is a great design. The ball-and-socket joints for the posts on the pool hall is clever. And it looks like the "L" in the sign might be a new tile piece.

I really like the mix of blue bricks in the barbershop, too! Tough to tell from the picture, but the window/door frames might be light blue. That will be great if its true.

Really, well done. Cant wait to build it!

I think it says Ace Brickman but I can't be sure, in any case, building looks great and I love the brick front.

Ace Brickman. And this... is different. Not the set name I would expect. But the architectural massing is very nice.

Yeah, I agree - it looks like Ace Brickman, the M was appearing to me like "LI" at first.

The "L" in "POOL" is a 2x2 corner tile - relatively new, but not brand-new, though I don't think it's been released in red yet.

There is no question that it is Ace Brickman. Check this better definition photo.

Still can't figure out how they made the detail around the top of the actual detective office (black parts that remind me of the grey engine piece that we've seen before). Is it new parts or parts previously released in previous sets?

Also the black parts around the top of the blue building (just above the grey arches). New parts? Can't wait to see how they did it. EDIT... Actually it looks like they are using unikitty tails molded in solid black! Wonderful!!! Love it! Look closely in the image that I cropped and you can see it. They appear to be upside down!

LEGO can sell me on stuff like this without even seeing a picture. Once you got market street.... and the hotel... and the green grocer; before you know it - there went $1000 and your sanity. :) haha

LEGO 10246 Detective's Office (Back of Box with Features)

Post by Toys N Bricks » Sun Nov 16, 2014 9:32 pm

We've seen the front of the box for the set already and now, here's the back for LEGO 10246 Detective's Office! Like all the other modular buildings, this one doesn't disappoint again with lots of cool functions. Thanks to Huw over at Brickset for the picture.

Hrm... Everything looks amazing, save for the staircase. It seems to take up a lot of the actually usable space in the apartment, which is unfortunate. It should have been an enclosed external one - which would be entirely possible to mod, since it looks like there's enough space behind the building in the back alley. I can't even tell where the stairs go from the second to the third floor.

It's hard to tell what is on the file cabinet in the detectives office. It sort of looks like a black bird, which I hope is a reference to The Maltese Falcon.
