The pics of the new poly bags reminds me, has anyone seen the Friends 30100 poly - Andrea at the Beach? Did this ever get released in the US?

No. Made it to TRU in Canada, though.

What's the story with Chima? I know nothing about this line and not sure if I care? Is it another Atlantis or Space Police? Because it feels like it to me.

From what I've gathered, here is the story:

Their land has an almighty power called CHI (I don't know if it's a physical piece or what). There are different tribes in Chima - Lions, Eagles, Ravens, Crocodiles (maybe others) - looks like the Ravens and Crocs are the bad guys and trying to do bad things with the ultimate power. Lions and Eagles are trying to stop them. Like Ninjago, there will be a game associated with the minifigs. It's some kind of racing game, called speedorz.

I saw in my LEGO catalog that there is a TV show sometime in January on Cartoon Network. I guess that will set up the story better.

Sounds like Chima is trying to plug the Ninjago hole.

These are some great polys here, but I barely ever seem to find any of the good ones in the stores. Oh well, I can always hope. By the way, Hoth Bricks informs regarding LEGO Creator 10250 Year of the Snake:

"Opinions were divided about the real existence of this set based on the T-Rex set of 6914 and seems destined exclusively to market Chinese. 2013 will be the year of the snake in China (10/02/2013 to 31/01/2014).
Confirmation came via Brickset signaling the online LEGO instructions in pdf format this set.

The description of the LEGO concept and its plastic bricks on the penultimate page is proposed in Chinese which seems to confirm that the set is intended for a very specific market."

I'm impressed by the City sets, they seem decent for Fire sets.

A chinese associate called Lego in China and confirmed that The Year of the Snake (Lego 10250) lego set is real. It is only being sold in China and there will only be a limited production of these sets. It is not a polybag. The actual Snake can be made with the pieces already in Lego 6914 but Lego 10250 has about 50 pieces more to needed to make the decorative gate. The door for the decorative gate is the only special Lego piece in the decorative gate model. Lego 6914 has 191 pieces and cost about 19.00 ( 10 cent/piece). Given the extra pieces, I would expect that *The Year of the Snake* (Lego 10250) if sold in the USA would likely retail at about 24.00 and have a regular sale/discount price of $18 to $20. In China, Lego Creator set prices are normally higher than the USA - my hypothetical price estimates for China's Lego Market (using Lego 6913 as a pricing model) is that Lego 10250 should retail in China about 56% more (than my 24.00 estimated MRSP) at $38.33 USD (239 Yuan Renminbi) and in China Lego 10250 should discount to about $25.47 USD ( 159 Yuan Renminbi).

The Year of the Snake starts on February 10th 2013 - in China, the lunar new year festivals last 7 to 14 days.

The Year of the Snake (Lego 10250) is being sold on Ebay(US) for 79.99 by what looks like a HK scalper (this vendor claims to have 10 copies - the price is fixed, and the offer will last for 26 days - or up to Feb 17th 2013 ). My email to TLG wrt to Lego 10250 got no response. which suggest to me that *The Year of Snake* will not be distributed or sold by the official Lego USA branch.

The chinese langauge version of Amazon.com is currently offering Lego 10250 at a discount of 299 chinese dollars (= 48 US dollars) from Amazon.com's posted retail of 399 chinese dollar (56 US Dollar) - however, China's Amazon.com international shipping is limited to media mail (e.g. books) - Lego kits (toys) donot qualify for international shipping; note that the Chinese language Amazon.com is a separate business entity/operation/company from the english langauge version of Amazon. Lego is normally more expensive in China than in the USA.

In China, Lego is partnered with a Chinese company called kidsland ( my impression is that Lego does not technically have a majority/controlling stake ownership in the two official Lego HQ/stores in ShenZhen and Shanghai, China). I have sent a letter to the Lego representative in China with an inquiry of the possiblity of an international order - but I have doubt whether anything will come of it.
