Cathedral of Learning

Post by sixf00t4 » Sun Mar 16, 2014 7:42 pm

Not many people are familiar with the Cathedral of Learning outside of Pittsburgh. I know this, but I'm hoping to change that.

It's a beautiful building, on the national historic registry, and it's got a bunch of awesome "themed" room for countries around the world.

I did this for a contest and then made some modifications afterward. I showed it around the city at different displays my LUG was doing, and so many people asked for the instructions to build their own. A few people prompted me to put it on cuusoo, so I did. http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/43478

The university of pittsburgh sent the link out of facebook and twiiter, and then the mayor of pittsburgh did too. It was a lot of fun seeing the link go around, but I know it's going to take more than pittsburgh to get this seen by LEGO.

Let me know what you think about the model. I might put a peregrine falcon nest on it, or even build a gorilla hanging from the top or something fun like that if it does get some interest. Image

hmmm...didn't get the notification of the reply.

Thank you! This is my first architecture style build. It was a lot of fun, but it really is an easy one to do.

hmmm, still not getting topic reply notifications! I just clicked the bottom link that said "subscribe topic" so, hopefully that fixes it now.

Thank you all for the support! I know 10,000 votes is going to be way beyond any effort I put forward. I'm curious what people outside of pittsburgh think about the cathedral though. Do you think the building is cool? Do you think it has lego set potential? I'm no expert to say.

Nice, clean microscale without being overly simplistic. I like it.

Thanks! I mean, to be honest, without the impossible detail of a gothic structure, it is a pretty simplistic building. perhaps why people seem to like it so much though.
