Surprisingly, the secondary market was not as good as had been expected.

When the winter cold chills the market shoppers to the bone, they can warm up with their choice of scrumptious sausages. Knockwurst, Weisswurst or the classic Bratwurst are all sold from the festive sausage stand.

In the back the talented sausage chef grills the delectable meats for each customer.

Hello! I've been lurking for awhile, saw this contest, and decided to finally make an appearance. I hope you like my entry--my daughter and I made a little toy maker's stall. A kindly old toymaker and his assistant sell wind-up robots, teddy bears, dinosaurs, swords, shields, arrows, and a whole bunch of Harry Potter figurines. The little girl even got a microscale Unikitty figure. (The scarf is covering her face, but trust me, she's happy.)

Image

Here's a view from the other side, where you can see the supply of bears behind the toymaker's helper...

Image

Here's an unobstructed view of the interior of the shop without the minifigures and the roof in the way.

Good luck to everyone who enters! I really admire the photography skills many of you have--I wish I could get my backgrounds so white and bright. Thanks to TNB for hosting this event!

Come over to the PET PLAY vendor kiosks at the Winter Village! Dr. Monica runs the vet clinic in town while her husband owns the pet store next door to the clinic. They thought it would be great to participate in the fun of the winter carnival this year.

Pet Play offers the finest in pet needs including pet beds, feeding bowls, scratch posts, bird perches, and artisanal feeds and vitamins!

Stop by and Dr. Monica will also give your pet a quick checkup and make sure that they have their shots!

Pet Play Vendor booth is open for business!

Includes 4 figures: Dr. Monica, her husband, Luke, and two customers. Also, 5 pets: Dog, Cat, Frog, Rat, and a rare Blue Grey Parrot!

The world-famous Nutcracker Booth has finally opened for the season! Stop by to meet the husband and wife team who run the shop (though the husband seems to be checking inventory, at the moment). Check out all the colors and variations of nutcrackers, and then try your hand at cracking a complimentary nut yourself. Feel free to throw the shells right on the ground!

And look, here comes dear Uncle Drosselmeyer with little Clara! The first time the mysterious Drosselmeyer brought a nutcracker to the family's Christmas party, things got a little out of hand - at least until the Mouse King was vanquished. Let's hope their celebration is a little more uneventful this year!

Hey folks. Long time lurker, first time poster. I have to thank my daughter for creating the mini-figures for this build and a coworker of mine for letting me borrow a brick with reindeer eyes.

These two booths are inspired by a local zoo that brings in reindeer and an ice skating rink over the winter months. Guests have a chance to feed and take a photo with a live reindeer. Mind the antlers when you get in close for your picture, but you'll have a new furry friend once you've fed her a carrot.

After visiting with the zoo's reindeer, have a family skate in their outdoor ice rink. Don't have your own ice skates? No problem! Stop by our skate rental booth and we will get you situated. We also offer skate sharpening services if you have your own skates!

When I heard about the Winter Village contest, I knew immediately what I wanted to build. A childhood memory.

When I was little, the closest thing we had to a winter village in my teeny, tiny hometown was "the square" - a group of businesses surrounding the courthouse. Each year, these shops would have grand displays in their windows and the everyone would make a special trip to drive around the square or walk around on the sidewalks to get a closer look.

But every kid knew that the best part of the season, was the little house that mysteriously showed up on the courthouse lawn each year. It was Santa's house and we couldn't wait for it to appear.

With my winter village build, I wanted to reflect a few highlights from my childhood experience.

First, Santa's house always had a warm fire going. Sure, it was probably just a glorified space heater, but it's warmth was the first thing that greeted you when you opened the door. In my model, the fireplace uses a light brick to bring a cozy glow inside the booth and is triggered when the chimney is pressed.

Second, there was always food... a plate of cookies, a candy cane, a popcorn ball. And sometimes even hot chocolate!

The worst part was the wait. The little house would only hold a few people at a time, so there was almost always a line. No matter how decorated the velvet rope was outside that door, the wait seemed to last forever.

And then, of course, there were the photos. You had to get your photo taken with Santa. It's tradition!

Everyone's favorite barista, Larry, has decided that he had enough of the corporate coffee world and quit his job at Starbricks. He and his wife Mary decided to become entrepreneurs and open Larry's Hot Chocolate Stand. The Winter Market has the target market for Larry.

We see Larry preparing some more drinks, Mary manning the register, and a couple happy customers with their hot chocolates.

Taking off the roof, we can see the hot chocolate machine with the cocoa powder and water on top. There is also a few flavor pumps to add some different flavor to the drink and Larry tops the drinks off with whipped cream.

This is not my thing. I'm more like Lord Business than a Master Builder, but I figured I'd tap my creativity nerve and see what happens. So, I dug deep into my kids' bucket of loose pieces and put these together last night. It was a bit of a challenge not having a lot of standard/City pieces to work with and "borrowing" pieces from complete-in-box or sealed sets was out of the question! (What if I forgot to put them back or couldn't remember where they came from!?!?)

Here are my modest entries which will pale in comparison to the rest of yours.

First..
Tinker's Train Works. Tinker sells quality train engines that inundate little boys with copious amounts of glee.
Image

Followed by...
Clark's Cocoa Cabin. When Winter Village Wanderers need to warm up their innards (or "outards"), they can swing by Clark's for a hot mug o' cocoa, or just hang around by the open fire until he ushers them away with a disapproving grumble.

Here is my entry for this fantastic competition. I chose to do two kiosks and it is not an easy task to be limited to a small space.
Image

The first booth is a lot of fun carnival games "Wack-a-mole." Look at Alexender. He explode of fun by hitting the moles.

The second booth allows you to rent various equipment to practice your favorite winter sports: skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, skating. Jennifer choose some skate. Her boyfriend is waiting at the ice skating rink in front of the backery

I wanted to do make some booths of things I like to do in the winter that were LEGO friendly ( ;-) ). So I decided on doing an Ice Cream Stand and a Cocktail and Wine Booth!
ImageToysnBricks Winter Village Market Vendor Contest by The Green Giant LEGO, on Flickr

Mike at the Ice Cream Booth serves both soft serve and four flavors of real home made ice cream. If you even up dropping any the cats will come over and clean it up for you.

In case you are too cold from being outside and eating some great ice cream you can warm up with a drink (or 3)! Johnny Thunder loves them!

.
Glühwein Stalls

Enjoy some hot mulled wine on this cold winter day.
Image

Image

On the right, second stall contains the cooking area with cauldron of mulled wine above the stove with its propane canister. Here you can see how the cook fits. No glühwein stall is complete without tables for socialising out front!

Image

On the left is the main booth, which has doors on both sides for worker access. A wine rack and price list hang at the back of the stall. While in front, drinks are on tap and of course those commemorative mugs are for sale on the counter.

Thank you!

My original ideas for entries into this contest were much more traditional sorts of booths that you would find at a Christkindlmarkt, including a Christmas ornament shop and a toy shop. The more I thought about it though the less I liked those ideas. Instead of doing something traditional I tried to think up what those winter markets are missing, something that a celebratory time of year would absolutely need to have.

That's when it hit me. I had a strong image of Christmas stuck in my head when originally thinking about entries into the contest but the holiday season is also about the coming of the New Year. No New Year celebration is complete without fireworks.

With that idea in mind I set out on a less traditional sort of winter market stall and I came up with this: LEGO Winter Village's Very Own Fireworks Stall.

ImageWinter Market Village Entry Photo #3 - Fireworks Stall by illegitimatealex, on Flickr

This trusty little stall has all of your fireworks needs, from small things like firecrackers, sparklers, and cherry bombs to rockets and mortars.

ImageWinter Market Village Entry Photo #1 - Fireworks Stall by illegitimatealex, on Flickr

For your New Year's celebratory needs, its always a good idea to stop by and pick up everything you might need.

ImageWinter Market Village Entry Photo #4 - Fireworks Stall by illegitimatealex, on Flickr

Especially sparklers.

I hope you all enjoy my entry. Thank you Toys N Bricks for hosting this event and thank you TLG for donating the prizes. Good luck to everybody. I had a lot of fun building my entry over the past two weeks. There are a few more pictures up on my Flickr if you're interested in looking. Just click one of the images here to see them.

The Imperial Shootle

Darth Vader and son visit the market stands after some frantic last minute Christmas shopping.

“The Winter Village Market. You will never find a more vignetted hive of fun and festivity. We must be cautious.”

Come one come all and test your aim at the Imperial Shootle. Shoot down the rebel pins without hitting any of the friendly Imperial troops. Fantastic prizes to be won! (Seasonal lightsabre, Wookie action figure, and Ewok pillow pet.)

The two Snowtroopers manning the stall are getting exhausted (one up front with the megaphone to deal with the punters, and one out back shovelling snow) – Perhaps Darth Vader can find new ways to motivate them? Although his main concern right now is Luke’s presents.

This is my first contest entry, as well as my first MOC ever, as an adult. :ugeek: I also went with the idea of a "Photos with Santa" Booth.

This is my second year as an otherwise new father, and as such, this Christmas was the second time we visited Santa at the mall. While afraid of Santa, my daughter loved the peppermint candy canes he handed out after her sitting with him, fueling my inspiration for my project.

For my design, I went with a gingerbread house facade trimmed in peppermint sticks. Beneath the overhang sits Santa in his plush red and white checkered chair, and for a small fee, kids and adults alike can have their picture taken with the jolly old St. Nick by his trusty elf-ette.

(I wanted to show this overview picture as well, please note that the "cheat" 2x6 plate I used that the elf is standing on is to anchor her so as to counterweight the camera for my photoshoot, and not actually part of the display.)

I've really enjoyed seeing these entries and am excited to see the outcome. Good Luck Everybody!

Great entries everyone!

Chocolate Stand

The Chocolatier and his wife decided to open a stand-alone shop at the Winter Village Market. The chocolate Santas are a big hit with the kids. Too bad not many can afford them at $100 a pop  :-D
