For CMF, I added the artist. The artist is sopposed to draw the picture of the event.

Approx 200 pcs.

Um, I'm pretty sure there is no painter in this scene in the movie, Darth Vader (or the thought of him) is hiding in a low frame rate cave, but no artist in site. I'm pretty sure the contest states you need to recreate a scene from a classic movie with a CMF and not just drop one in an unrelated scene.
Actually, I really like your sense of humor, legobomb789. I vote for a whole series of movie vignettes, with the Artist painting each.

E.T. - released 1982

used about 60 pieces.

I wanted to keep it very minimal as far as pieces go because I want there to be "void" created. Any small details would create the illusion that you're up close to it, but to work correctly, the viewer needs to be far away.

I just started working on my submission. I think it has a shot of places. It actually encompases 3 movies and has 2 collector figs, and 1 super unusual piece, that I have never seen used in a MOC! Im actually suprised nobody has used the movie/movies I plan to use!

Santa doubles over with laughter as two bionicles recreate a scene from Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer.

Hello everyone!
I present you my entry, a scene from one of my childhood favorites "Blazing Saddles" by Mel Brooks (1974).

It's pretty hard to explain the movie because... well, it's a Mel Brooks movie and they usually don't make a whole lot of sense! That being said, it's hilarious and I warmly recommend it.
You may check the above scene in this video.

Thanks to Toys 'N Bricks for organizing this contest and good luck to all!
*edit* I forgot to mention, I used most of the Cowboy from Series 1 (switched the head for a different one) and the Bandit from Series 6.

The entire set can be seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/22379868@N ... 999370606/

The premise of the vignette was through the grandfather's reading from the book, the story comes to life!

Modern Times (1936)
"A cog in the Lego machine"

244 pieces; time to build: most of a Saturday

Modern Times
is full of classic Chaplin moments: roller skating on the brink of a chasm, the automatic feeding maching, the gibberish song. But the most enduring image from the film is when Chaplin's factory worker falls into the machine and becomes ensnared by the massive gears and wheels.

When I started designing a 16x16 Lego vignette of this scene, I thought it would be quick 'n easy. But as I studied the movie scene, I saw how many layers of gears and wheels Chaplin's set had. And translating that into Lego meant that the vignette grew much more three-dimensional than I'd expected. I enjoyed the building tremendously, as forcing (or in this case, shrinking) depth perspective is the most intriguing part of vignette building for me.

The minifigure is mostly the CMS Mechanic--almost the right job to match Chaplin's factory worker, even down to the wrench (Chaplin brings two wrenches down to the machine with him). I used CMS Astronaut arms.

After building the set I added an art deco-inspired base design, to reference the film's era.

For the picture above, I changed to mode to grayscale (only necessary because of the minifigure; the actual 'set' is all grayscale already), and upped the contrast, to try to match the look of the screenshot.

Great job. I love this... Moments within vignettes below a glimpse are like a riddle wrapped inside an enigma, surrounded by a pancake and dipped in syrup :)

Here is my entry.

One of my favorite Saturday activity way back in Boston was watching the Creature Double Feature on channel 56. There were monsters and B movies to enjoy. The ones I liked were the Japanese monster flicks with Godzilla.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968)

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968)!

Image
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang by SPARKART!, on Flickr.

This vignette is about 200 pieces and uses The Detective Collectible Series 5 Minifig.

I tried to recreate the poster pose of the titular character, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I wanted the rear to look like a boat, which you can see better in this photo, which also shows The Artist I added later.

Amazing jobs.

I was going to do Jurassic Park, but can't think of a small scene in which would capture the feel (It's been 20 years, it's a classic). Then I thought King Kong and then A Christmas Story, because when I grew up NO ONE knew of that movie. Now everyone does.
