As much as I loathe the Transformers movies and am generally not a big fan of clone brands, I must admit that build actually looks pretty awesome.

TRU Transformers Build

Post by anakinisvader » Wed Jun 25, 2014 11:08 am

There is going to be a Transformers Build - Optimus Prime riding Grimlock - (Kre-o - I know its not LEGO but its FREE!!) on Saturday June 28th from 12-2. Check your local stores or look here: http://www.toysrus.com/shop/index.jsp?c ... dd90ddd23a

Not sure how busy this will be but if its anything like the LEGO builds there will be a long line and the free item will be gone within 20 minutes so get there early.
Why do we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway?

MOD NOTE: I've merged the two different topics and moved it to "LEGO Retailer Discussions" since it's not really a "Sales and Deals" thing, but it didn't have as much visibility in the "Clone Brands" forum (where I've left a ghost topic that redirects here).

Went, they were giving out poly bags with the set. Wasn't really a build per se. But free is cool!

My son got one, haven't opened it yet but it was quite surprising getting a sealed polybag, I suppose the resellers will have a field day with this one (even if it is only a Kreo)

We went and the TRU person asked that people build it there. Some complied, some did not. We stayed and my daughter build hers. She was happy.

When people saw that they were giving away bags, they started asking if "they could have an extra for xyz". The lady gave them one, but reluctantly, saying she did not want to run out before it was over. Which I thought was the right thing to do, but people still asked including folks with 2 year olds.

What was the lemonade stand event (for Alex's Lemonade, I assume)? Was it also a LEGO Building event or did they just give out this poly? How did I miss it? Please share!

It was, but I don't exactly know what it was, just saw a box of them and some pledge things when I went in last Saturday.

Interesting, I went to TRU a few weeks ago and found those beach hammock sets. When I scanned it they were 1 penny. Since there were only 3, I bought them and figured it was some glitch/mistake at this store only. Although that was before 6/21. I bet my store got rid of them by accident now that I read they were given at an event.

When I walked by yesterday the Alex's sign was in the front and had the LEGO logo on it...it all makes sense now.

I think LEGO Brand Store should do an in-store LEGO/Alex's Lemonade promo where they sell a special poly bag and donate the proceeds to the charity. I know they have a Friends Lemonade stand, but this would probably sell like hotcakes and raise a lot of $. My daughter has held an Alex's Lemonade Stand for 2 years now and it is a great charity.

So we stopped by toysrus and I asked if they had the Kreo sets from yesterday and they gave me two. As I was leaving, a member of the staff stopped me and gave me 2 of the friends sets. I asked if they had one more and she was happy to oblige (there were 3 girls and 2 boys in our group).

I'll have to stop by my local and ask if they have any left.
