Availablity Update for LEGO Ideas Exo-Suit & Research Institute

We stopped at our closest LEGO store today (Potomac Mills, VA), and the staff there said they would be getting more of the Research Institute set, but not until October. They seemed to think it would be online, too, but I don't know if that was just wishful thinking.

Now I'm not saying that I don't believe this post, but then why would they not list the RI and the exo suit as, "Temporarily out of stock." Now I do believe that the Exo suit is going to have another production run, but over at the FBTB, they said that the RI was just going to continue be made to fulfill the remaining backorders.

I also called lego customer service yesterday to get an update on the situation and he said that there would be a continuation of eco suits, but the research institute was sold out. I did however get the feeling that there may be a few more shipments of the RI to lego stores so keep calling to see if they received any in stock.

I know that we all like the exosuit, but RI really did nearly as well too and got zero hype from anyone--giving some credence to the lack of determined support for women in lead roles. Glad we got our order for RI in when we did.

Exo-Suit is currently listed as "Temporarily out of stock" but RI is still marked as "Sold Out" as I stated yesterday. That is the only thing that's at odds with the LEGO Ideas blog post. However, I don't see how LEGO Ideas could make such an egregious mistake as to state that something was going to get a continuation of production when it, in fact, was not. They're not just an offshoot anymore, Ideas is now fully part of TLG, after all.

It would stand to reason that they will go back into production on Exo-Suit first, since it sold out the initial production run slightly quicker than RI. Therefore, they left RI as "Sold Out" to prevent orders from piling up. I'd assume once they can allocate a new run of RI, it should be marked as "Available now".

Chances are they will, it is not a licensed set; it is making money for them; they tested the water and they are a success. And do not get me started on some of the staff, rather if they are a sale rep or a CSR, some of them have no freaking clue on what is new or comming soon other than they know what Lego is. Then again, for a fact, like many other work places, some are hired because they KNOW somebody say the H.R. or Store Manager.

Just for the hell of it I stopped it at the Coquitlam Toys R Us and they had 4 Exosuits left. I bought 2 of them. I was there at about 5 minutes before closing, so if you get there first thing Sunday morning, they should have 2 there. Apparently they got lots of them in, but someone bought 30+ in one shot.

The exo suit will be available soon, let the speculators stock up on them there will be plenty for all of us... Unfortunately the research institute is no more :( I wish Lego would make a second run on that one.

Brickred, where did you hear this? I really hope this is not true. I thought there was hope as I've been reading on this thread that more of the RI would be available in October timeframe...
