Post by Toys N Bricks » Sat Jan 05, 2013 12:21 pm

This month's mini model build is a LEGO Igloo! Because of the New Year's Day being on a Tuesday, the event is Tuesday, January 8th, beginning at 5pm at your local LEGO Brand Store. Event is open to children aged 6-14 and only while supplies last. This is a FREE event and no purchase is necessary. *Date and schedule is for USA and Canada LEGO Brand Stores

The event took place in Germany/UK/Denmark on Thursday January 3rd from 4-6PM. (Sorry for not posting about it before).

I guess global warming is doing a number on that igloo? Plus the nerd in me points out that penguins are south pole, while igloos are Arctic. But it's free Lego for kids, so I'll just keep my mouth shut. :)

True. This is probably the best (cutest) monthly build I've seen despite it melting, etc.

They're obviously Arctic Puffins.

Is there anyway to get these builds if there is no "official" LEGO store within 300 miles???

Very cute build reminds me of the penguins in the Batman Video game!

Each month, Lego posts the instructions for the build of the month on

shop.lego.com/en-US/MiniBuilds

(You can substitute your language and country in place of the "en-US" if you so desire. So, "en-GB", for example) Brickset also has these cataloged with instructions where they were available. Lego did not start posting instructions until July 2010.

Went to LEGO store (1 hour+ of driving) last night instead of today:O(
Stupid me :O(
In other hand got 10 series 9 minifigs :O)
Pretty much sure I'm not gonna be able to get there tonight:O( Only hope if someone will grab it and sell it on ebay, 'cos my kid really love this.

The set is very cute, but the "birds" are huge...look at the comparison of the "door" opening to the "bird"...these are some giant creatures!

And my daughter wanted to know why the igloo was floating on water ;-) I guess two white plates at the bottom would be more "authentic", althouh quite boring colorwise. Overall the model is cute, even if inaccurate. I'd love to scrounge more parts to make more penguins.

The answer to both your issues with this build is simple: The igloo is melting due to global climate change ;-)

You know what, that does explain it, I'm not sure that was LEGO's intention, but it has become clearer to me! ;-)
