CMF 10 AVAILABLE and smooshing is not necessary (at my TRU anyway).

TRU in Stevenson Ranch, CA has LABELLED each packet with post-it notes!

The packet is sealed but the content is identified (see pic attachment).

This is probably to prevent the total mashing and gnashing of the packets in the crazed search for Mr. Gold.

Although it lowered the sense of excitement (I a proud smoosher/massager of blind packets with 90% accuracy), I had no qualm, got 12 out of 16 minifigures already and it's 2 weeks ahead of the release date!!!

PS: If you are coming to buy at this TRU, there is only one box, placed at the Customer Service counter.

Bought 1 box at Target today. Happy Finding. 1 box at Target had 120 of them.

Each Target only carry 120.

I went to another Target but the lady said no because it had the sticket "Dont put on shelf until May 1".

So I guess I am lucky enough for the first box.

update: There is no Mr. Gold...

So I guess it's safe to say no one should waste their time going to Stevenson Ranch TRU if they hope to have a chance of finding Mr. Gold. It sounds like the employees have dibs.

On the other hand, if you're just looking for a set of 16 that sounds like a good place to go.

If TRU is doing this, then you have to figure they are going to lift the Mr. Gold's out of circulation...

Yeah but I am only looking for the 16 figures so it's OK.

TRU in the St. Louis metro got a few boxes in. I got to the St. Peters location yesterday and they had just opened their second(and last) box. 3 packs were gone(she said they had sold) but the box did not look disturbed. Just because I wanted my set done and over with as well as hoping for a second set for a friend who was looking, I bought the box sans the 3. No gold but I did manage to get the 2 sets. Now what to do with the 25 extras I have.

I think it more likely the box was searched for Mr Gold before it went on sale!

I found that the sea captain, medusa and the bee were in low quanitity on the boxes, with the centurion, mechanic, paint baller and sky diver seeming to be everywhere.

And TRU has $25 off $100 lego purchase at the moment (or did two days ago) so if you are looking to buy 32 or more, they are 3.19 each at TRU, then you can get 25% off.

Let's see the tally for South Florida:
-None of the Toys"R"Us stores have it, only in Central Florida
-Two Learning Expresses don't have it
-Three Walmarts don't have it
-Four Targets will not sell it until May 1st; One couldn't find it in store

Went to my local TRU and the employee mentioned their manager had already gone through both boxes for Mr. Gold, and didn't find any. Picked up a pair of Tomahawks, Roman Captains, the sad clown and Amazon. I didn't find the Medusa and even had 2-3 employees help me look. I guess on to the next store. :)

Did the manager go through it for his own profit? i.e. if he found it then he'd pluck it for himself?
Is there a company rule against manager doing that????

I've heard in a TRU near where I work the manager let an ebay scalper went through the highly-sought after merchandise whenever the delivery truck comes.

6x Roman Soldiers .... 2x Librarian
Yes, this is the new distribution pattern starting with Series 9. EVIL I know.
People used to be able to get 3 complete set per box now it's only 2 set because of the new pattern.

There is one reviewer who's been doing CMF since Series 1, he always does distribution pattern count in his review and also includes very good photos.

I bought a new opened box with 60 at TRU in yuma, AZ on Saturday, got two complete sets at $25 off $100, and started to sell the rest on Bricklink. No Mr. Gold.
