LEGO Hobbit 2014 January Sets Now Available (USA)

Post by Toys N Bricks » Sat Nov 16, 2013 8:08 pm

Hector writes in to let us know that Target.com has three of the LEGO Hobbit sets listed. However, only 79013 Lake-town Chase is available for $49.99.

Peter also reports to us that he has spotted the 2014 January LEGO Hobbit sets at a Toys R Us store in Niles, Illinois (USA). On their site, they currently have 79013 Lake-town Chase available for $49.99 as well.

3 of the new hobbit sets (79012, 79011 & 79014) are available for pre-order from Amazon.com, though they have the wrong cover photo for 79014 on the web site.

Went to the TRU in Niles at 9:15 this morning. Whatever new Hobbit sets were there before were not on the shelves thus morning. Back to waiting I guess :)

Kmart has some too. A few orders went through, a few got cancelled, a few more reorders had the same hit or miss ratio.

My order has been in limbo. I got the order confirmation email, but no shipping confirmation email. When I check the order status though, it says it shipped.

I just pre-ordered from Amazon the Mirkwood Elves and the 79014. Should be fun to build.

My local TRU only had the Dol Dur Battle set. Looking at the set in the store, its a bit disappointing that its largest Hobbit set for the second wave.

They had exactly 3 of each of the new hobbit sets at my local tru today. Since they were marked at MSRP, I bit. Used the 15% off coupon on the tru homepage and bought the Mirkwood Elf Army set. 15% off plus the free Christmas tree poly isn't necessarily earth-shattering news from a bargain standpoint, but since the set isn't even available at Lego Shop at Home yet, I feel pretty good about it...

So TRU now has them all online and they seem to be ready to ship. You can use the 15% off coupon, as well as the wish list feature to get $10 back for future orders (though it takes a few weeks to receive that coupon I guess).

Do you guys think it would be worth it to buy them now, or wait until Cyber Monday and see if there are better deals? I say Cyber Monday instead of Black Friday because that falls on Dec 2 and by then the new Hobbit sets will be available everywhere. Does anyone remember what kind of deals Lego S@H (or other retailers for that matter) had last year for Lego on Cyber Monday?

3 of the 4 are even 15-17% off.
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.
