Any deals now that GBP is lowest in 30 years?

Post by grymg » Fri Jun 24, 2016 9:00 am

I've been searching Amazon UK but nothing I want seems to ship to USA. Currently GBP is worth 0.75cents so essentially all the prices are 25% off to Americans.

25% off of what?

Last week, 1 USD was worth about 0.69 GBP. Now, 1 USD will get you 0.75 GBP.

So, if you had planned on buying something from the UK last week, you could buy it now for about 8% less.

Crap you are right, I did it backwards. My math is sucking right now. Anyways, a 10 GBP set will run you about $13.68.

75102 Poe's X-Wing Fighter is 45 GBP which is still $61.58 so no big deals to be had at the moment.

Yeah the pound has never been worth less than a USD and I doubt it ever will. The place to look is at the Euro because that should fall apart and I think there is that Euro tax on toys that makes them 17.9% more expensive than if you were shipping them to the USA. I remember that's how you could get CMF boxes years ago for pretty cheap.

That tax isn't just for toys, it a tax on goods and services.

When buying goods that are not for use in the Euro zone, you can file for a VAT refund, or if the item is shipped directly from the vendor to a location outside the zone, they VAT would not be charged.
