[US] ToysRUs.com MSRP

Post by sidersdd » Sun Jul 15, 2012 5:34 am

It's bizarro world today at ToysRUs.com. Looks like most/all (I didn't check every set) LEGO sets are down to MSRP or lower. They also have some sort of 20% off your entire toy purchase going on - excluding sale items. I thought at first they marked the LEGO sets down to MSRP, so that they would be "on sale" and thus excluded from the 20% off sale. But even the non-sale items, such as Death Star, Imperial Shuttle, etc. seem to be excluded. All LEGO sets seem to be excluded, except the newly added Cosmic Cube. That set doesn't qualify for the free ninjago hidden sword polybag. So I'm guessing TRU considers any set which qualifies for this hidden sword promo to be excluded from the 20% sale.

Anyway, perhaps this will change or get fixed.

[USA] ToysRUs LEGO Sets on sale at MSRP + Coupon

Post by Toys N Bricks » Sun Jul 15, 2012 6:25 am

For a limited time only, ToysRUs.com is offering big savings on ALL LEGO construction sets and board games. Their big savings literally means that ALL LEGO sets are back down to MSRP (with the exceptions of a few sets like polybags) as I don't see any good deals. Its a shame that Palpatine's Arrest MSRP is $89.99!

Don't forget they also still got the free Ninjago Hidden Sword polybag with purchases above $20 as well.

From July 15-22, there is also an instore coupon where you can save up to 20% off. If the sets are on sale for MSRP, then the savings are not too bad (especially for new sets).

20% off $75 purchase or more
15% off $50-$74.99 purchase
10% off $49.99 purchase or less

nope, their website said all items $75 or above gets 20% off (with some exclusions as always). So yes, their "sale" price will remain like this for the rest of the week.

I also recevied a coupon via email for 20% entire purchase (if over $75). I'm guessing the MSRP reset is not the case in-store. Need to search out a motorized excavator.

Yeah, wondering if the stores are pricing their legos at retail like online. Does TRU honor their online prices?

Nothing discounts when added to the cart. Anyone else with this problem?

Weird, I thought you were referring to the 20% off emails.

Probably doesn't work on legos since they are already on sale.

Well looks like a TRU fail because even the items that are not on sale won't discount. :???:

I think they added that "FREE LEGO Ninjago Hidden Sword with purchase! ** " to kill any discount on non sale items; the freebee probably invalidates the discount.

I tried it on Millenium Falcon out of curiousity, since it is not "marked down" and I removed the Ninjago poly, but it is not working.

You need to see this under the toy: Online Only! SAVE 20% when you spend $75 or more on eligible regular-priced toys! - (Details)

It works on Playmobl items (tried it on the pirate ship out of curiosity) and the discount did come off. None of the LEGO items have the wording, so the Ninjago promo item is killing it.

The discount shows up near the bottom of the shopping cart screen beneath the subtotal part of the order summary.

I just randomly tried a bike and the only discount I see is the free shipping. Do you have to complete the transaction?

^ no, I just added the Playmobil Pirate ship to my cart and it appears in the summary: I did not check out. Maybe bikes are excluded? I checked, bikes are not listed, is it an "unbeatable price item"?

Order Summary
Subtotal $79.99
Online Only! SAVE 20% when you spend $75 or more on eligible regular-priced toys! See Terms -$16.00
Estimated Shipping and Handling
Based on Standard Shipping within continental U.S.
$4.86
Sales Tax
Calculated at checkout

ETA: The bikes are like the LEGO, they have a crossed off price so it has already been "reduced" it is not a full priced item. I do not see the wording about the 20% off $75 on bikes, sorry!

K, looks like it has to specifically say 20$ off on the product page. So this is basically useless for legos :(

That coupon only works if the items are not on sale ["Excludes sale items and promotional offers"], and since TRU so conveniently put all those Lego sets on sale, it means that the coupon is basically useless for Lego purchases.

Shame, really.
