Some people found this for like $50 at KMart and such.

I hate those people. :lol:

I so want this set, so badly. 1200 pieces but I just don't have the money. If it were $80 I'd pull the trigger.

Sold out at that price. I was lucky to get one and it was my 'gold box deal' so got it for $98. Not complaining :)

This set was to retire at the end of this year, but the latest word is Lego is keeping this around to 2015, I hope this is not true as I have a ton of them.

I called the store and was told this had a sign retiring soon. They need more space for new leaders. It will be retired. Simple economics. Small stores.

That's not retirement, that's just space saving.

Retirement means they are making no more and that they have limited stock. If a store stops buying them just means they are no longer carrying the product.

LEGO can have it listed on their website for years still and just not ship them to stores.
