Well, talk to me in 18 months (that's how long it will take to complete the process at the earliest) and tell how you like "Plan B". At least you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Here in Ontario, with an election in just 2 months, even the opposition parties who hated the HST when it came in, say its going to stay. Sheesh. A pox on all their houses.

The government really think they can force a tax on us? ha, not!

Though, I find it ridiculous how they can add a new tax without citizen approval in less than a year but take 2 years to completely remove it with citizen approval. I understand it does take time for accountants and businesses to adjust their taxes but 2 years is way too long.

These politicans are horrible. Their plan B is obviously going to try to rip us all off with more taxes. Of course, they'll say it in a way that sounds like we're getting benefits out of it.

NICE..... A victory to B.C. people. However, why is it taking that long to remove????????? Rolling back to old system would not be as hard as making a new system, isn't it? If they mean to do it, they can do it in 1 to 3 months.

I watched the news last night. Christy Clark said she has already planned out the strategy if it is the case that HST extinguished. I guess the delay is one of her plans.

However, somehow, we should understand that things are getting very slow in Canada. Look, so far, no charge has been laid in connection with Vancouver's Stanley Cup riot ten weeks ago. And taking 3 weeks for a package shipping from Ontario to B.C. by Canada post.

Ya no Series 5 Minifigures available at any stores in BC yet. Things here really gets done so slowly. I'm almost 100% positive that there wouldn't be a Canada Skytrain Line if it wasn't for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Though, I do like the idea how they can get things done so fast when there's a new tax or when they're getting wage increases.

In regards to the speed of things, ever noticed that when the government raises income taxes, they do it retroactively (so this new higher tax is effective six months ago, meaning you all are going to have to pay a lot more to make up what you owe us) but tax reductions kick in later? Or how the price of oil goes up, gasoline goes up instantly, but when oil goes down, it takes a few weeks for the cheaper oil to work its way through the refineries etc so we can't lower the price right away. I could go on, sugar and coffee seem to work the same way.

Congrats to B.C. and craps for me. I went through a lot of coding and testing of the B.C. HST tax module for our company's billing application a couple of years ago. Now I have to go through all that again. Thanks a lot people of B.C. :D

Did everyone get their new PST number from B.C. government? Can't reuse the old ones from before.

On the other coast, PEI now has 14% HST as of April 1st.

Congrats guys! Gotta love the very rare story where the people come out victorious over a government body in regards to taxes.

So my LEGO store purchases will NOT have 12% tax now, correct?

Lego is not PST or GST exempted.

You won't see 12% HST on the receipt or invoice but rather 5% GST and 7% PST. :-D

Unfortunately, they didn't give back completely the original PST/GST tax. I believe they did some changes like raising the PST to 12% (which is the same % as HST) on certain items.

I'm not sure about the LEGO store. But Shop at Home is now showing 5% tax (instead of 12%) again! :-D
