Disney Infinity?

I'm intrigued by the new game out today, Disney Infinity. Can anyone educate me on it? It seems like a money pit with other characters, playsets and what the heck are the power discs?

Playsets are just character sets that open up a level for the character you purchased. e.g. Lone ranger playset opens up an adventure in Colby.

Power Discs unlock give extra powers to characters and unlock gadgets and vehicles.

Money pit and too over priced. My son wants it, but he's also into Skylanders, So I'm not getting into this money sucking game too. I may change my mind when it doesn't hit sales targets and gets discounted. If it does badly, this will be before Christmas, or wait until after Christmas in the sales.

I forgot abut this thread! Thanks for the info. I see that BJs Warehouse club is offering an extra character in their pack. Costco also has some bundles. I too might wait for Black Friday.
