*Galaxy squad does not count towards the Geoffrey giraffe build.

I wish they had such deals for other themes. Personally I'm just not interested in the parts in these sets, they seem too specialized to build other things.

agreed.. even at 50% these arent enticingstan5345 wrote:I wish they had such deals for other themes. Personally I'm just not interested in the parts in these sets, they seem too specialized to build other things.

Plus they don't even sell the best one in the theme, the Galactic Titan.
Who is General Failure and why is he reading my hard disk?

It was attracting ONLY when they went to 70-75% clearance at Target last year. Goodluck to Toys R Us trying to move this. Even their Galaxy Squad exclusive set is lacking at 50% off. Plus they exclude the poly bag promo with these.legome wrote:agreed.. even at 50% these arent enticingstan5345 wrote:I wish they had such deals for other themes. Agree, the ONLY good set in the theme.hatcher wrote:Plus they don't even sell the best one in the theme, the Galactic Titan.

While I admit I was also quite cold towards the whole "Galaxy Squad" line, that was remedied a bit last year when Target put a bunch of these at 70% off.
Of the sets on sale at TRU this weekend, I'd say the 70701 Swarm Interceptor is the best value. It's an intelligently designed set with a ton of playability. It's not as fancy looking as the 70721 Ninjago Kai Fighter but it's every bit as fun. Don't overlook this one!

That's because people bought the stock on that one long ago and it sold out. What's left is what people didn't buy at full price or 20% off.hatcher wrote:Plus they don't even sell the best one in the theme, the Galactic Titan.

I can only say good riddance lol. Hope something better will come in its place.

Went to the check if the Galactic Titan was still available at my local store but the selection was limited. Glad I went cause I was able to grab 2 x 21110 Research Institute. They were not there last week which means they just received stock.

Will me more impressed if he can make that $1800 back by selling these sets, he has his work cut out for him.

I was actually wondering how much profit he can make, with 50% off MSRP and tax.massakassa wrote:Will me more impressed if he can make that $1800 back by selling these sets, he has his work cut out for him.
Re: TRU Canada - 50% off galaxy squad sept 27th - Oct 3rd
From the source of the picture, it seem that he or she will be parting it out. And I hope he or she is also doing a lot of moccing, else it will take him forever to make that money back plus more. But he or she did say it is a relaxing thing to do, so it is somewhat like smoking. So for those that want to relax but do not smoke, maybe they should take up sorting Lego pieces!massakassa wrote:Will me more impressed if he can make that $1800 back by selling these sets, he has his work cut out for him.
IF he can part them out that is. I recall reading an article on sets that do not sell well as a set but can make a small amount of profit by parting them out. But like the person said, if one do not account the time you spend on sorting, listing, packing...etc, you could turn a crappy set into profit. Question is how much? Usually not much, but with THAT many he brought, he might break even plus more, but will take a while.Legobrandon wrote:I was actually wondering how much profit he can make, with 50% off MSRP and tax.

Hey, that's me! That was only the first batch. :)
I ended up buying the majority of what was left at my local tru for $1200. The 1800 is the retail value of my first cartfull (in the picture). I will be parting it out and given past experience, I'll have no problem making it back, $10 at a time. :P

It`s a bold move buying such a large lot of this theme, a lot of us are reluctant to even buy one these sets at half price, but i do respect your courage and hope it will pay off for you.mdoupe wrote:Hey, that's me! That was only the first batch. :)

Individual pieces have no theme. There are tons of useful parts in here, regardless of overall set quality. There are very few old lots in my store that have never sold. Except Bionicle, nobody wants individual Bionicle pieces. :D

Re: TRU Canada - 50% off galaxy squad sept 27th - Oct 3rd
True, unfortunately themes like this don't come with sought after mini figures, unlike the SW, SS or LOTR/HOBBIT themes for example which would allow you to recoup most if not all of your money by just selling the figures and the parts would then become pure profit. I run a bricklink store myself and know how tedious it can be to make a profit on sets that only have parts and no worthwhile mini figs.

Re: TRU Canada - 50% off galaxy squad sept 27th - Oct 3rd
I bought one of each of the good guy sets - hoping these turn out to be like mars mission. A space theme with nothing special (except the eagle command base) but I had one of each of the mars mission sets and sold most of them in misb condition for 2x value except for two sets which I sold at 3-5x value (max transport and switch fighter). They were not giving the mars mission sets away at 50% off but there were definitely lots of mars mission available for sale at 25-40% off during its life.
