ToysRUs Canada LEGO Bricktober 2015 - Week 1

Post by Toys N Bricks » Fri Oct 02, 2015 6:30 pm

For those living in Canada, Bricktober has officially begun at Toys R Us Canada. From October 2-8, Toys R Us Canada will be offering a free LEGO Hotel set with LEGO purchases above $75. In addition, you can also get a free LEGO City Space Vehicle polybag with LEGO purchases above $25  (excludes LEGO Friends).

Looks like this year's Bricktober is not as good as last year as there aren't any sales at all!

There weren't consistent sales last year, either, if there were any at all. I used to buy LEGO from Toys 'R' Us every week in October every year, mostly all LEGO that I would never have bought otherwise, just because it was on sale and I wanted the promo sets, but I skipped last year when they decided to get greedy. Obviously that strategy worked for them, and they're pulling it again this year, which means it's dead to me once again.

I totally agree and might I say, this goes all the up to LEGO itself.

With the recent abrupt extension for VIP points this October, which in my mind was to appease angry customers, LEGO has become quite stingy. Why bother with sales/giveaways when they're the top toy manufacturer, maximize profits...

I usually get around the lack of TrU sales during a promotion by finding another retailer to price match, such as Walmart.ca:

BTW
The Bricktober sets do not have a bar code on the packaging.

It won't be listed on the receipt with the items purchased to receive it...do the math ;)

Toysrus cashiers are writing on the receipts that a give-away was provided with your purchase. so there is no refund and keeping the freebie set.

Guess it's a YMMV situation that depends on the location, because mine hasn't ever done that.

I bought set last year for $35 in order to get the Rocket Raccoon poly bag. The only way I buy something this is if they a poly bag giveaway I really want.

I am seeing a trend re. the sales. There isn't much anymore.

Actually there're barcodes on these sets. My week 2 set shows up in my receipt. In fact, during check-out, my cashier accidentally picked up a week-1 set and the price of $19.99 couldn't be taken off. Before we figured out the screw-up, the cashier actually asked me if I really want it. I looked at her incredulously and said, it's a free set I am entitled to! They finally figured it out and I got my week-2 train station.

I like getting good deals on lego, and appreciate when people post coupons for added savings. For myself I draw the line at buying a set for the freebie and then returning the set. I did get a LOT of use out of CineplexFeb and stacking it with 20% off sales, but I consider that more of a grey zone that I'm comfortable with. Too bad it expired though...

I think that if you were the real Mr. Bean, you would be quite comfortable with returning the set for the freebie. And I think that you would do it in a funny way that would be entertaining for everyone watching.

Love the deals, and love clearance sales...but I definitely won't intentionally defraud a company by returning part of my purchase. Everybody has their own limits, but I'm with you.

Last week I asked for the Space Vehicle, they told me that they dont have it any more. I went today to the same TRU and I found the Space Vehicle on the shelf for sale. This is not the first time I notice this. I experinced this many times.

Toys r Us too try to keep the free gifts for themself too so they sell them ..

It s the reason why i dont Feel bad in talking advantage of them. at least lego has the vip stuff and a great customer service, TRU they know s**t about their products and they give you looks when u simply asking something
