[Canada] ToysRUs 20% off LEGO City, Creator, Basics
Re: [Canada] ToysRUs 20% off LEGO City, Creator, Basics
Thought I would give it a try aswell. No harm done if they cancel it. Besides it looks like it will be a while before it ships anyways.

I actually think they will honour the orders ~ they have in the past if they made a mistake.

Giving a try for that Helms Deep set is quite tempting since Lord of the Rings is pretty cool, but I'm not feeling that set enough...huge percentage off if it works but still quite a bit of money that I might prefer to be spending on a different set. Decisions, decisions.

No, they haven't. They cancelled my Imperial Flagship order a year or two ago. Toys R Us is kind of a scummy company that way. Watch them send everyone Weathertop instead with its $5 markup.harry99 wrote:I actually think they will honour the orders ~ they have in the past if they made a mistake.

TRU Canada does not mark sets up. Or at least, not that I know of.
Re: [Canada] ToysRUs 20% off LEGO City, Creator, Basics
Well if they do end up sending out Weathertop, I will just return it to my local TRU and let them sort it out.Blacknight wrote:No, they haven't. Not a big deal for me. It's worth a try.

I ordered two sets, too. It is worth to try, and we should try. They must receive tons of complaints if Weathertop was shipped out. With the pressure on, TRUs may try to settle this by honouring the sale.
In fact, I am guessing that the shipping department does not care how much the set is. They just simply follow the order slip, which is "9474 The Battle Of Helm's Deep", and packs them into boxes.

They can and they will NOT be shame of it. If this happens to lego stores, then it will be a different story.Jasper Parnebrick wrote:How could they not honour it? i have a receipt for two 9474s at $79.99 each

I had a bad experience shopping with Futureshop before (I know we are now talking about TRUs). They shipped me a refurbished item when I had ordered a brand new item online. When I returned it to the store and asked for a replacement (the online deal was over), they kept refusing to give me a brand new one unless I paid extra (the differences from the current price marked at their store). It was a very bad argument and I was super mad with the sales representatives at the store.

Helms deep is at preorder for $80 Will they honor it who knows just thought I would share.
SO, it turns out that going through the regular channels if you just go to toysrus.ca the LOTR section is a dead link, or removed, but I bought two using the link above an hour ago, and it's still active as of 1:06 am June 2nd.. so jump on it while you can!!!

No interest in LoTR, but the price is SUPER tempting.
Re: [Canada] ToysRUs 20% off LEGO City, Creator, Basics
If it's an error, there is no law that Toys R Us is required to honour the price. Usually large companies will honour 1 item at the erroneous price to make customers happy and provide good service. I have seen large companies decline to honour prices when it costs them big time (like advertising a TV at $79.99 when it's supposed to be $799.99). At this price, assuming it's an error, $100 is lost on each item. The gross margin on these things is probably around 25%, so it costs $135 to TRU. That's a loss of $55 per item, times 1000 orders, that's $55,000. I'd say TRU can afford to pay that for their error since their annual profits must be in the billions of dollars.

I am getting LoTR set for castle and parts.Legobrandon wrote:No interest in LoTR, but the price is SUPER tempting.

Yep, that's how I think it works. The fullfillment company is completely different than the one taking orders. The fulfillment company (not really TRU) is in Missisaugua and the one taking orders in the USA (I believe Michigan or Wisconsin?).legohunter wrote:I ordered two sets, too. this is a pre order so there is a high possibility they can cancel it; other retailers have done the same.Jasper Parnebrick wrote:How could they not honour it? i have a receipt for two 9474s at $79.99 each

I literally placed dozens of orders with TRU since 2008 and had never a single once cancelled...
