Post by scotts » Tue Jan 08, 2013 6:08 am

Amazon.co.uk has Battle for Helms Deep at £74.99 but shipped to Canada it works out to £67.44 shipped plus taxes. Here is the link http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007 ... tonbr0b-21" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Even with taxes and everything...that's like over 40% off the Canadian price (about $87 before the additional duty and UPS charge), still cheap compared to the Canadian price. Really tempting...but I keep feeling like the set is nothing but a set of walls. Then again, a castle is really just a bunch of walls...argh...hard to decide.

$87 sounds to low, it came to $106.91 with Google just now. Still way cheaper then our typical prices.

Ahh, yes, sorry. I completely screwed up and thought it was Euros. I'm an idiot, thanks for the correction.

Yah, it'll be closer to $110 after the credit card conversion. Plus it will likely ship UPS, which means an additional $10 brokerage fee (plus taxes, which you would pay here anyways). Overall after UPS, it's more like a 30% discount... still a great price (for Canadians) if you're looking for the set!

It is ok since a lot of people get EURO confused with pound all the time.

It'll come back down, I did the same thing last week and then I watched it for a week until it dropped.

I'll post what I pay for taxes when it gets to me, which is supposed to be tomorrow! Talk about fast shipping!

$15.45 for extra fees, $10 handling fee, $4.95 tax, $0.50 handling fee tax. My Mastercard charged me 109.51 so $124.96 shipped to my door. Not as good as US sales but I'm happy.

^ I suspect it was UPS as they charge $10. Canada Post would charge $8.50 for procssing and take significantly longer to deliver.

Yes it was. The set was packaged really well, the box looks perfect.

Wow, you guys in Canada have to pay additional "handling" fees to the shipper, and then tax on that?

Is that only from some locations or companies or just general?

Locations and companies. If we order from the states with USPS they hand it to Canada Post at the border and we pay a fee (used to be $8.50, may be $10). UPS ground and FedEx ground from the states charge insanely high handling rays based on package value where as UPS's and FedEx more expensive shipping options don't have handling fees. I haven't ordered much from other countries besides China and Japan and I usually get away with not paying fees unless the value is high and then we pay the Canada Post fee.

Wow that's terrible. So your LEGO is already overpriced. And if you want to get in on a US deal that will actually ship there you pay more for it :(

Hmm. You guys should create an underground LEGO transport syndicate or something. Like the Mafia, except with bricks!

For those who own this set anyways, how is it? I'm reading it's huge, but I keep looking at it as if it's just a bunch of walls. Yes, I know castle sets are usually just walls but still...I've never owned a Lego castle before though.
