I'd Like to know the Name of a Part...
For a lot of my LEGO City car MOCs I use the elongated car roof elements (As seen on the police car in set 60042). Unfortunately I don't know the name of this brick so I can purchase more. Also, I was wondering if this piece came in any different colors, preferably red? Anything helps, so thanks in advance

The answers to your questions can be found on bricklink, brickowl, and peeron.
For example, on bricklink, you can browse to the set, and list the inventory:
http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/ ... 0042-1#T=I
The roof element is listed as part 98281 http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/ ... ge?P=98281
This number should also be 'printed' on the underside of the part. It's takes a bit of practice to learn how to identify the numbers on the parts themselves, though, and sometimes they can be hard to see clearly.
If you look at the color info chart for the part, it shows this element does come in red, in two (retired) sets, 60001 Fire Chief Car and 70813 Rescue Reinforcements. There are 93 offers from different sellers on bricklink. You can search there or on brickowl for the best price + shipping deal.
Another place to source parts is directly from LEGO, at this link
https://wwwsecure.us.lego.com/en-us/ser ... parts/sale
If you enter the part number, 98281, as the 'design element' and search, LEGO currently offers it in four colors (but not red). This weekend (for the May 4th promo) there is free shipping from LEGO on any size order, which is a good time to get random parts if you have a difficult time reaching the normal $75 free-shipping threshold.
