Amazon.fr Whole Box of Series 6 Minifigures

Post by Legobrandon » Thu Jan 19, 2012 4:35 pm

You can now order a whole case of series 6 minifigures on Amazon.fr. Each case will run you 109.99 euros (roughly 144.25 CAD and 142.60 USD, according to xe.com). But when you go to the confirmation page, the total comes to 99.56 euros including shipping for Canadians ($130.57 CAD). So if you do the math, $3.49 x 60= $209.40 (!) $209.40-130.57= Savings of $78.83! But the downside to this is that the ship date is estimated at 4-7 weeks.

*TIP* If you are having trouble reading French, download Google Chrome and it was translte the whole page for you!

EDIT: Thanks to Brickset.com for posting this deal.

Customs fees depends on the shipping company they choose.

What shipping company does Amazon France usually choose? If it's UPS it's not worth it due to their Brokerage Fees.

They sometimes use UPS or DHL.

DHL is good as fees are lower but if they send UPS that will be another $29.00 brokerage fee plus other fees - pretty much eliminating any savings compared to Canadian retail...

Got burned a few times by UPS...

Just got an email from amazon.fr saying the box I ordered will be shipping earlier than expected. :-)

Previously estimated arrival date: 02 March 2012 - March 19, 2012

New Estimated ship date: 31 January 2012 - February 1, 2012
New Estimated Delivery Date: 13 February 2012 - February 14, 2012

Still have my fingers crossed that this ships in a few days.

I don't understand any of what you are talking about "brokerage fees". Is that a Canadian thing?

It's essentially a "handling" fee that carriers will charge you if there are customs fees that are owing on the package. I believe the carriers front the money at customs for you and charge you afterwards for the taxes owing and their "handling" fee.

I think Canada Post charges $7.50 as their brokerage fee (can't be 100% sure, since I haven't been charged customs through Canada Post in a very long time) and UPS charges $10.00 now (or at least that's what they charged me for my Amazon France package). I was worried I was going to get hit with a $30-$50 fee from UPS (I've heard horror stories), but thankfully it was only 5 bucks in tax and 10 bucks in brokerage.
