What sets are in your "backlog" to be disassembled?

Post by vynsane » Mon Mar 05, 2012 11:59 am

As counterpoint to What sets are in your "backlog" to be built? I want to know what you still have put together that needs to be disassembled and/or sorted.

Alien Conquest
  • Earth Defense HQ (though the Vic Viper will probably be spared - it's just too cool!)
  • Jet-Copter Encounter
  • Alien Striker
  • Alien Defender
  • Alien Tripod
  • UFO Abduction
Ninjago
  • Turbo Shredder (white 1x10 curved slopes!!!!)
  • Nuckal's ATV
  • Training Outpost
  • Venomari Shrine
  • Rattlecopter (purple canopy!!!!)
  • Jay's Storm Fighter (blue 1x10 curved slopes!!!!)
Pharaoh's Quest
(one of my daughter's inexplicable favorites to play with, so it may not get the ax yet)
  • Scarab Attack
  • Rise of the Sphinx
  • Golden Staff Guardians
  • Flying Mummy Attack
  • Cursed Cobra Statue
Other
  • Atlantis Deep Sea Raider (another one of my daughter's inexplicable favorites)
  • PoP Battle of Alamut

Generally I disassemble older sets, plus (most of) some newer ones whose product lines are short-lived.

Well, that's the real problem isn't it? LOL. I've got a bunch of the Troll sets (the battle wheel, and the other smaller stuff) that will probably get bagged up. And I'm really getting bored of the Star Wars sets (blasphemy, I know) so I'll probably take apart my gunships and put away the clones too. Decisions decisions,

My 6211 Star Destroyer is falling apart, so I'm going to take it all apart and rebuild it. I do this ocassionally with my sets - it also gives me a chance to clean them as they get very dusty in my display area

Also, I want to disassemble my Batman sets to try to make some kind of bigger Batman MOC wtih them.

My technic crane trucks needs some work to replace the batteries. I hate doing that. Same with the motorized AT-AT.

All the stuff from my recent "big buy" is only partly disassembled and in process of being parted and sorted; including the Death Star playset, the T-6, a couple of imperial v-wings , The Imperial Flagship, the Black Pearl, The QA Revenge, The Millenium Falcon, The Space Shuttle, The big Emperor's Shuttle, The Maersk Train, The 7939 Cargo Train. I have quite the wrecker yard going on.

I will be disassembling my entire SW line for long term storage in the next month and any other set still together from kingdoms. The chessboard will hopefully be kept in a display box if I can find something the size of the grey baseplate.

I had made enough space on my desk that I could actually work there the other day (I sometimes work from home) and performed controlled demolition on some of the sets that were scatted thereabouts while fielding emails and IMs:

Disassembled and Sorted
  • Alien Conquest Jet-Copter Encounter
  • AC Alien Striker
  • AC Alien Defender
  • AC UFO Abduction
  • Ninjago Training Outpost
  • Ninjago Venomari Shrine
All PQ sets remain untouched, and I was surprised to have some hangups regarding disassembling Earth Defense HQ, so it was granted a stay of execution. It helps that just last week I lined up on the edge of my desk in order to defend my terrain from hostile invasion by the forces of my wife's desk, which has been a constant battle, so I need them to remain on point and ready to mobilize against that threat. Jay's Stormfighter supplies added air support for them on occasion, I guess, so that wasn't broken down, either.

My daughter gave me Nuckal's ATV for Christmas, so I felt guilty taking it apart just yet, and I didn't want to get into breaking down the Turboshredder since it's a complex build, lots of little pieces, and the daylight was dwindling by the time I got around to it. That's probably the first one to go the next time I get a chance.

I have a couple of the new SWU sets that I've stole pieces off of for a large MOC. So once I've finished the "mother ship" I'll probably shred them.
