Walmart Lego Clearance (YMMV)

Post by creativerain » Fri Feb 14, 2014 12:46 pm

Hey team, I was at my local walmart (Lougheed Mall in Vancouver Region) and they had a large section of clearance toys by the entrance. It was pretty picked clean but what I was able to find was:

Lone Ranger Comanche Camp - $20
Lone Ranger Calvary Builder - $15
Star Wars Rancor Pit - $65
Lord of the Rings Pirate - $115
Lord of the Rings Black Gate - $65

Could be a good time to pick up some lone ranger as lego.com has stopped selling them. They weren't all marked so I had to scan them individually. Not the best sale but better than nothing.

I've seen some of those at my Walmart in Ontario. They also had Jabba's Sail barge down to $120 and a few others. In terms of clearance, these are pretty weak.

Yeah those are just regular Toys R Us monthly sales prices of 20% off or so. Walmart is slowly gonna lose ground to Target if this is Walmart's new idea of "clearance".

Not in my area they won't. "Clearance" deals like these still fly off the shelves. People see LEGO sets on sale and they go crazy. Most people are not very informed when it comes to deal hunting, that or they just don't care.

yeah, most of the stuff that is 20% off goes pretty fast. I stopped by Lougheed the other day and picked up the Octan Tanker Truck for 20% off. They still had 7 left, the rest were gone a couple days later.

Both, and they are the ones causing Walmart to stop their clearance drop at 20% because again, why drop the price further when you have people sucking them up at 20% off!

Wow, wish I could find some of those here in Ontario.

I did however find the Dark Knight Rises Bat versus Tumbler set today in Barrie for $24. Its got over 350 pieces, so this is a great price. Check your local Walmarts.

Thanks! Managed to find the Sail Barge ($90) and the Bat vs Tumbler ($25) at my local Walmart. I really wanted the Sail Barge and was waiting for a good sale. 40% qualifies as greeeeaaaaat!

Yeah just a note that you may have to scour really hard to find these items - they're often stashed at the periphery of the toy department in random little collections that the employees happen to designate as a clearance section. Each Walmart can have multiple such sections. I was just about to give up before I finally found a sail barge at the 2nd Walmart I visited that was supposed to have it in stock. Beat up box, but beggars can't be choosers.

Checked Barrie myself. Picked up Tumbler for $24 from the Bayfield location.
Got the Sail Barge for $80 and Olivia's Beach Buggy (lots left at both locations) for $6 at the Mapleview store. More clearance items at Mapleview though most discounts were small.

Got a Tumbler for $24 at the Brant St. Walmart in Burlington - they had at least 3 left on the shelves. Couldn't find anything else though - did scan a few sets (i.e. Battle of Smallville) but it came up at the regular price.
LEGO, it's not just a toy, it's an addiction... ;)

Thanks for the heads up! I was one street over on Guelph line when I saw your post so I popped by and picked one up! Still one left at that Walmart.
