Target Winter/Spring clearance

Post by minifigW » Sun Dec 21, 2014 7:47 pm

It's now winter and there has been some deals at target!

first wave Chima speedorz 10.48
City race car 7.19

Some people have reported older CMFs being clearanced for 1.48, sadly I have not seen evidence of this in CA.

I was at my local target this morning and they were decimated. The entire toy section had tons of employees and all you heard were scanner guns going off as they desperately tried to fill the holes. Not much at all in the way of clearance sets, one small star wars set no one wanted on clearance. Zero of the 2015 sets that others have spotted. This was Target in Canton GA.

Checked some of my locals and same thing, 15% off in the toy aisle and I was lucky enough to find some leftover Friends polybags at 50% off for $1.99 each.

One surprise, one of the Targets had the new DC sets on the shelves today. They had the Black Manta set, the Green Lantern set and the Brainiac set $40, $20 and $25 respectively

I just got back from Target and Walmart. Walmart had the same or better deals than Target. The Lego Movie Trash Chomper was on sale for $25 at Target but the Ice Cream Machine was $21 at Walmart. Both are $30 sets.

Curious...I have never waited for LEGO clearances...but I have for "Star Wars" and "GI Joe" action figures and vehicles and typically, people tend to wait until they go down to the 60-70% off mark.

Do most of you wait until the second or third week or are they pretty much snatched up the first week of clearance?

With Lego being the number one toy company in the world, you need to act quickly for clearance. Typically it's very YMMV for how long clearance will last on shelves, but any % off will get them to sell within days.

So, yes, these get snatched up as soon as they are hit with clearance labels. Getting discounts on Lego is getting harder to find due to the huge demand for product. If you see a set labeled with "online item" buy it! I waffled on a large train set that I saw near closing time and it was gone by 10 am when I went back the next day.

Target doesn't have any sort of app similar to Wal-Mart where you can check local prices without going in the store, do they? I haven't made it by but I'm guessing everything is gone. I was there on the 23rd and there were already many gaps in the shelves.

Visiting the in laws...South Overland Park, KS has lots of the friends jungle boat polybag at $2 in the holiday section. And at least 8 copies of the jungle animals creator set at 50% off the $20 MSRP, so $10. Pretty good for 272 pieces. Target dpci 204-00-1236.

Which sets are you referring to? Like a snowman polybag or something?

30115- Jungle Boat
30264- Frax' Phoenix Flyer

They were both "Holiday" sets in the section of stocking stuffers.

Check around the registers now as they are similar to the full price ones available now.

The Snowman and other polys were still at full price.

Saw a few Creator (the black & white cat set and some others, I think) and a smattering of Star Wars (microfighters, Vulture Droid) on clearance for 15% off in Newburgh, NY this morning.

I picked up LEGO Chima 70146 Flying Phoenix Fire Temple at a Target in TN for $35.98. It was regular price in the store, but I showed them a copy of the receipt (downloaded onto the internet on 1/1/15) where someone purchased it for $35.98 in New Jersey, and they price matched without any hesitation.

I was at both the Hamburg Target and the Athens Target in Lexington Ky. Both had some LEGO on clearance but they all looked to be 15% - 20% off only.
