The latest LEGO Ideas project to approach close to 10 000 supporters is Nasa Spacecraft by Micro_Model_Maker. It currently has 9989 supporters so it should hit 10 000 supporters anytime now. Congrats on achieving this far!
Once LEGO Ideas projects reaches 10 000 supporters, it would be reviewed to become potentially the next official LEGO Ideas set.
LEGO Ideas NASA Spacecraft Description
Always liked the thought of space? or maybe the beautifully designed spacecraft? or perhaps the missions? if the answer is yes to any of these then this project may be for you!
This project features 4 of Nasa’s spacecraft, these include
Discovery Shuttle: Discovery became the third operational orbiter to enter service, preceded by Columbia and Challenger. It embarked on its last mission, STS-133, on February 24, 2011 and touched down for the final time at Kennedy Space Center on March 9, having spent a cumulative total of almost a full year in space. Discovery performed both research and International Space Station (ISS) assembly missions. It also carried the Hubble Space Telescope into orbit. Discovery was the first operational shuttle to be retired, followed by Endeavour and then Atlantis.
Hubble Telescope: The Hubble Space Telescope (HST) is a space telescope that was launched into low Earth orbit in 1990 and remains in operation. Although not the first space telescope, Hubble is one of the largest and most versatile, and is well known as both a vital research tool and a public relations boon for astronomy. The HST is named after the astronomer Edwin Hubble, and is one of NASA’s Great Observatories, along with the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory, the Chandra X-ray Observatory, and the Spitzer Space Telescope.
Pioneer 10 Probe: Pioneer 10 (originally designated Pioneer F) is an American space probe, launched in 1972 and weighing 258 kilograms (569 pounds), that completed the first mission to the planet Jupiter. Thereafter, Pioneer 10 became the first spacecraft to achieve escape velocity from the Solar System. This space exploration project was conducted by the NASA Ames Research Center in California, and the space probe was manufactured by TRW Inc.
Viking 1: Viking 1 was the first of two spacecraft (along with Viking 2) sent to Mars as part of NASA’s Viking program. On July 20, 1976, it became the first spacecraft to land successfully on Mars and perform its mission. Viking 1 held the record for the longest Mars surface mission of 2307 days or 2245 sols until that record was broken by Opportunity on May 19, 2010.
I hope this set will allow children and maybe adults to learn about some of the greatest nasa missions and craft in a fun and creative way,
