Review – LEGO Star Wars 75183 Darth Vader Transformation

LEGO Star Wars 75183 Darth Vader Transformation is a classic set that was released back in 2017. The set contains 282 pieces and features 4 minifigures. The box though on the other hand shows only three minifigures. They forgot to include the black medical droid minifigure. There is also a larger version of the medical droid figure that holds all the tools. If you include that as a minifigure, you can think of the set having 5 figures in total.

The price of the set is $24.99 USD / $29.99 CAD / £19.99. For 282 pieces and at $0.089 cents per piece, this is pretty reasonable.

Buy Now: LEGO Shop at Home (USA | Canada | UK) or at Amazon USA. Its currently on sale at Amazon US at $16.99 (reg.$24.99) which works out to be 32% off. Great savings on a set that could potentially retire soon!

There was previously and older version of the LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader Transformation set and that was released back in 2005 known as LEGO 7251. Its a much smaller set and contains 53 pieces and 2 minifigures.

The back of the box shows various functions including an “exploding function for the droids and the lightsaber holders to fall off. The main functions though are spinning the medical table to show Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader and also lowering Darth Vader’s helmet onto his head.

The Contents

Inside the box, there is an instruction booklet and two labelled bags of pieces.

Bag 1 consists of the pieces shown above. There’s two capes included (one for Darth Vader and one for Emperor Palpatine).

Emperor Palpatine consists of 5 pieces. Here, he has his regular expression.

Here is the other face of Emperor Palpatine with his angry expression.

Here the minifigure version of the black medical droid.

Bag 1 finishes with building the base for the Darth Vader Transformation scene. There are eight segments and you build them individually. On the right are the leftover pieces from bag 1.

Above are pieces from bag 2. There is another bag for the tools the large medical droid will hold.

In bag 2, you get to build Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader minifigures. This new Darth Vader wears something on top of his cape. Both of the faces of Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader are the same.

Darth Vader consists of 6 pieces. He’s an awesome minifigure!

The complete Darth Vader minifigure.

Here is the larger medical droid figure. He holds six different tools that will be used to repair Anakin Skywalker and to convert him to Darth Vader.

Bag 2 continues the build from bag 1 and adds additional elements onto the base. You build the medical droid, the table that spins Darth Vader and Anakin Skywalker and the lightsaber holder.

Bag 2 remaining pieces. You get an extra Darth Vader chin piece and two lightsaber handles!

Total remaining pieces of bag 1 and bag 2. You really do get lots of extra pieces and you’ll most likely accumulate a lot after collecting many LEGO sets.

This is the part where Darth Vader gets his helmet into position. The function works ok and sometimes doesn’t work well but its still a great function.

This is the part where Darth Vader is all ready and created for the first time. He is about to step off and be ready for his future missions!

This is the lightsaber holder part. The gold chrome lightsaber is for Emperor Palpatine while the other lightsaber is for Darth Vader.

The complete set with two buildable medical droids, Emperor Palpatine, Darth Vader and Anakin Skywalker.
