What is the LEGO IDEAS Theme?
LEGO IDEAS is a theme where fan submit their LEGO creations. For most of the LEGO IDEAS sets, they need to achieve 10 000 supporters before LEGO reviews it. The chosen set would be made into an official LEGO IDEAS set. It would then be available for purchase at LEGO Shop at Home (USA | Canada | UK | Australia). These LEGO IDEAS sets are usually meant for LEGO Adults Welcome and are Hard to Find sets. This means they’re only typically available at LEGO only and sometimes at a few selected retailers. They are 18+ LEGO sets usually.
In recent years, LEGO IDEAS has developed and expanded into other areas. They also sometimes have other LEGO IDEAS contests where the winning creation would be made into a future LEGO gift with purchase GWP promotional set item.
LEGO IDEAS Sets Release Date
Generally speaking, once a LEGO IDEAS project creation has been approved, it can take 1-2 years before it is officially released to the general public at LEGO Shop at Home (USA | Canada | UK | Australia). Sometimes, some LEGO IDEAS sets are released earlier than this while some can take longer. LEGO has to go through the development phase where they get LEGO designers to design the set.

At 2082 LEGO pieces, 18+ LEGO IDEAS 21338 A-Frame Cabin allows plenty of building fun for the outdoors. It was released on February 4, 2023 for the general public. LEGO VIPs got early dips starting on February 1, 2023.
There are lots of cute animals and insects in this set. The cabin has two levels including features like bedroom, kitchen and living room. Realistic details include things like fireplace, typewriter, moths and butterflies.

The famous Korean boy band is now in LEGO form with the 18+ LEGO IDEAS 21339 BTS Dynamite 2023 set. This set was released on March 1, 2023.
There are 749 LEGO pieces and features 7 BTS member LEGO minifigures. The set is based on the BTS Dynamite music video. It has buildable elements of the record store, donut store, disco, basketball hoop and disco.

The set features a graveyard and the cottage. The cottage has features like water wheel that spins to make pink smoke puff, cauldron, light up brick and more. This makes a great set for the Halloween season.

18+ LEGO IDEAS 21340 Tales of the Space Age 2023 was released on May 8, 2023. LEGO VIPs got early access release on May 5th, 2023. It has 688 LEGO pieces.
The set has four postcards that are built with LEGO bricks. They can be connected and is 3D. These display postcards include moon base, black hole, lunar eclipse and space shuttle. Great gift for those that love science fiction.

18+ LEGO IDEAS 21342 The Insect Collection was released on September 7, 2023. For LEGO Insiders, they got early access beginning on September 4, 2023.
It features three lovely buildable LEGO insects. These include a Blue Morpho Butterfly, Chinese Mantis and Hercules Beetle. Each insect have their own little stand complete with their mini habitat.

LEGO IDEAS The Orient Express Legendary Train 2024 by LEt.sGO (Thomas Lajo) is an approved creation by the LEGO IDEAS team. It was approved on October 25, 2022. The creation reached 10 000 supporters on March 18, 2022.
The train set features the locomotive, coal car and restaurant car. The restaurant dining car has a removable roof. You can see the dining tables in the dining restaurant car. This is truly a classic set and train lovers would definitely like this

LEGO IDEAS Project Creation Polaroid Onestep SX-70 2024 by Minibrick Productions (Marc) achieved 10 000 supporters on February 22, 2022. It was approved by the LEGO IDEAS review team on October 25, 2022.
The upcoming camera LEGO set is perfect for collectors that love technology and cameras. There is a box of SX-70 film. You can also add a cloth strap to the model too.
The expected release date is 2024 for LEGO IDEAS Project Creation Polaroid Onestep SX-70 2024. It will be available at LEGO Shop at Home (USA | Canada | UK | Australia).
LEGO IDEAS & Target Your Family Tree 2024 Set
The Target LEGO IDEAS Your Family Tree was the winner for the Target & LEGO IDEAS Collaboration Contest on “What Does Family Mean to You”. It was announced and approved as the winner on December 7, 2022.
From the project creation, the set features a tree with red leaves. There are photos of different people representing family. There is a ladder with three LEGO minifigures and a baby figure too. At the bottom of the tree, there is a grass base with flowers.
Target LEGO IDEAS Your Family Tree 2024 set will be available at LEGO Shop at Home (USA | Canada | UK | Australia) in the future. There is a possibility that it may be available at US Target as well.
The release date of Target LEGO IDEAS Your Family Tree 2024 set is expected to be sometime in 2024.
LEGO IDEAS Dungeons & Dragons 2024 Set: Dragon’s Keep Journey’s End
Dungeons and Dragons partnered with LEGO IDEAS to have a winning fan creation to be made into an official LEGO set.
LEGO IDEAS Dragon’s Keep Journey’s End Project Creation by Boltbuilds is the 2024 LEGO IDEAS Dungeons & Dragons approved set. The winner was announced and approved on January 5, 2023.
From the pictures of the project creation, it has routes with doors that are changeable. There’s the witches tower, tavern, dungeon, crypt and more. This the perfect set for those that love the fantasy world of Dungeons and Dragons.
LEGO IDEAS Dungeons & Dragons 2024 set will probably be released sometime in 2024 at LEGO Shop at Home (USA | Canada | UK | Australia).
LEGO IDEAS Jaws 2024 Set
LEGO IDEAS Jaws 2024 by Diving Faces (Jonny Campbell) first achieved 10 000 supporters on August 6, 2021. However, it was not chosen. The second submission achieved 10 000 supporters on November 7, 2022. It was approved by the LEGO IDEAS team and choose to be the next LEGO IDEAS set on May 31, 2023.
The project creation set feature a boat along with the JAWS shark. There are also three LEGO minifigures that accompany the set.
LEGO IDEAS Jaws 2024 set is expected to be available sometime in 2024 at LEGO Shop at Home (USA | Canada | UK | Australia).
LEGO IDEAS Red London Telephone Box 2024 Set
LEGO IDEAS Red London Telephone Box Project Creation by Bricked1980 is an approved creation that received the green light on February 8, 2023. It achieved 10 000 supporters on June 28, 2022.
LEGO IDEAS Red London Telephone Box 2024 set has a detailed interior including telephone and door that opens. There is also the iconic British red mail box too. A nice streetlamp along with flowers are also on the exterior of the telephone box.

LEGO IDEAS Nightmare Before Christmas 2024 Set
LEGO IDEAS The Nightmare Before Christmas Project Creation by Tvrulesmylife first achieved 10 000 supporters on February 11, 2021. However, it was not approved. The second submission achieved 10 000 supporters on September 4, 2022. LEGO IDEAS review team approved the creation to be made into a LEGO set on February 8, 2023.
LEGO IDEAS The Nightmare Before Christmas 2024 set showcases the Halloween town from the 1993 film of The Nightmare Before Christmas. There’s features like Spiral Hill, Town Square with town hall and fountain and lots more. This makes a great gift set for the Halloween season.
LEGO IDEAS The Nightmare Before Christmas 2024 will probably be available at LEGO Shop at Home (USA | Canada | UK | Australia) in the 2024 year.
LEGO IDEAS Cat 2024 Set
LEGO IDEAS Cat 2024 is an upcoming LEGO IDEAS set. The project creation was created by The Yellow Brick (Damian Andres) and achieved 10 000 supporters. It first achieved 10 000 supporters on November 19, 2022. After the LEGO review stage, it was approved as an upcoming LEGO IDEAS set on May 31, 2023.
LEGO IDEAS Cat features a brick buildable cat model. Pet lovers especially those that love cats would definitely like this set.
LEGO IDEAS Cat 2024 set is expected to be released and be available for purchase sometime in 2024 at LEGO Shop at Home (USA | Canada | UK | Australia).
LEGO IDEAS Reading, Reading and Reading 2024 GWP Set
The LEGO IDEAS GWP Fan Vote winning creation set is LEGO IDEAS Reading, Reading and Reading by Fr_An. It was approved on July 18, 2023.
LEGO IDEAS Reading, Reading and Reading GWP 2024 will be a gift with purchase promo item at LEGO Shop at Home (USA | Canada | UK | Australia). You will probably have to spend a minimum amount at LEGO before you can get the gift set for free. We can probably expect LEGO IDEAS Reading, Reading and Reading GWP to be released sometime in early to mid 2024.
Target LEGO IDEAS Disney Magic 2024 Set
The Target LEGO IDEAS Disney Magic is an upcoming LEGO IDEAS set. The creator was 2A2A from the Disney 100 Years Fairytales Challenge. This creation was approved on September 1, 2023.
From the fan model creation, we can see that it will have a LEGO Mickey Mouse complete with Sorcerer’s hat. The big LEGO Mickey Mouse character has a red shirt too.
In addition, there are other mini models of LEGO Disney features and characters from the various Disney movies and films. Several LEGO Disney minifigures are also included.
Target LEGO IDEAS Disney Magic set will be available at LEGO Shop at Home (USA | Canada | UK | Australia) and US Target.
The release date for Target LEGO IDEAS Disney Magic set is expected to be sometime in 2024 or in 2025.
LEGO IDEAS & Pick a Brick Collaboration Test Lab Challenge 2024 Sets
Seven designs from the LEGO IDEAS & Pick a Brick Test Lab Challenge will be made into official LEGO IDEAS sets. The LEGO IDEAS & Pick a Brick Test Lab Challenge results was announced on September 5, 2023 so we can probably expect to see the official sets around late 2024 or early 2025.
